Zhejiang Province is a big province of red bayberry. February-March every year is the time to plant young bayberry seedlings in spring. Farmers should pay attention to the following technical points to improve the survival rate of red bayberry.

Myrica rubra

Planting time: all parts of our province should be in February-March, after the freezing period, before red bayberry begins to sprout, it is better to plant in cloudy or light rainy days.

Planting garden: red bayberry can be planted in areas with an average annual temperature of 15 ℃, a minimum temperature of-8 ℃ and an annual rainfall of not less than 1000 mm. Bayberry is most suitable for cultivation on slopes below 500 meters above sea level, with ferns, rhododendrons and other plants growing on the mountains, without stagnant water, shady and humid.

Dig a good planting hole: dig a good hole before planting, preferably into a fish scale pit, 0.8 meters deep. Pay attention to the separation of topsoil and subsoil so that they can be used in layers when filling. After the hole is dug, it is necessary to apply sufficient fertilizer, 25 kg of barnyard manure (or 3 kg of vegetable cake) and 15 kg of coke ash, plus 0.5 kg of superphosphate, and mix well with the soil during planting. When planting, the roots of red bayberry seedlings should not come into contact with fertilizer, especially calcium superphosphate. The weeds around the hole can not be removed immediately until the red bayberry seedlings are slightly larger.

Select strong seedlings: select high-quality seedlings with several branches and no root damage for colonization. After seedling emergence, some yellow mud was injected into the root system of the seedling, and then the root system was wrapped with nylon film for transportation. The longest time from seedling initiation to planting should not exceed 10 days.

Planting method: in order to improve the survival rate of seedlings, planting should be deep rather than shallow, especially in areas with heavy autumn drought. All the old scions on the rootstock should be buried in the soil, and the new branches and leaves on the scion should be buried in the soil at least 5 leaves, so that part of the scion can take root.

Before planting, you should cut off all the leaves, leave the petiole, and remove the nylon film from the scion. If there is an excavated root system of bayberry seedlings, use pruning shears to smooth the wound. At the same time, attention should be paid to the fixed stem work, and the height of the center above the interface should be 25 cm.

When planting, first cover the fertilizer with a layer of topsoil which is 15ml / 20cm thick, which is the soil in direct contact with the root. Put down the red bayberry seedlings, straighten out the roots, fill in the topsoil step by step, and cover the top with heart soil to 20m / 30cm above the ground. After covering the core soil, water it for 1 / 2 times, then cover with a layer of loose soil.
