Cow

Estrus, ovulation and breeding of cows are usually in autumn and spring. The cool weather, abundant forage and adequate feed in autumn, coupled with the fact that the cattle are in the retirement stage, the physical condition of the cattle is improved, the bull is energetic, the cow estrus cycle is short and the duration is long, which is the golden season for cattle breeding. Therefore, farmers who raise cows should strengthen management and breed cows in time.

First, do not make mistakes

The period from August to October of the lunar calendar is the peak season of oestrus and breeding of cows in autumn. Before the mating period comes, the cow of the right age should have a medium body condition, and being too fat or too thin is not conducive to mating. For thin cows, 40% of corn, 30% of barley, 20% of wheat and 10% of soybeans were mixed and soaked in water for 4 to 6 hours. 8% of the total amount of feed, 5% bran, 1% salt and 3% 5% bone powder were added, and the cows were fed twice a day in the morning and evening, each time 7.5 kg ~ 10 kg with water in soup; prolong the grazing time, mow and feed the cows in a short period of time. Only cows with good body condition, normal estrus, fertilization and pregnancy can be guaranteed.

Second, select the breeding bull.

The quality of the breeding bull has a great influence on the quality of the herd, so the breeding bull must be selected. If it is natural mating, one fine bull over 3 years old and under 8 years old should be kept for every 20 ~ 30 adult cows. Breeding bulls should be fed with green feed and concentrate, and when breeding is busy, they should also be fed with animal feed, such as eggs and fish meal, and at the same time to prevent mismatch between close relatives and bad breeds.

Third, seize the opportunity

The estrous cycle of female buffalo is 18 ~ 25 days, lasting 2 ~ 4 days, and that of yellow cattle is 18 ~ 21 days, lasting 1 ~ 2 days. After estrus, cows have reduced appetite, agitation, like to approach bulls, climb each other's hips, and often make voiding posture, but the urine volume is small, vulva flushing, hyperemia, swelling, micro-opening, often accompanied by white translucent mucus outflow, individual cow vagina also shed a small amount of blood.

At this time, touch the cow's buttocks, the cow's tail is high, quiet and motionless, the two hind legs open for mating, and then the appetite gradually recovers, the libido decreases, the vulva swelling gradually fades, and the mucus is less and thicker (rectal examination, estrus is in follicular maturity or ovulation), this is the best time to inseminate or inseminate cows. Cows ovulate from the end of estrus to 10 hours to 15 hours after estrus. The suitable time for mating is 8 hours to 12 hours after estrus in yellow cattle and 20 hours after estrus in buffaloes.

Fourth, adopt repeated breeding

About 70% of female yellow cattle ovulate at night. according to this special rule, cows have the best insemination and breeding around 7: 00 p. M. on the day when estrous characteristics begin to appear. In order to improve the conception rate, the method of repeated breeding can also be adopted, that is, repeated breeding should be repeated 8 hours to 12 hours after the first mating. If the cow is mated at 7 p.m., it can be mated again at 5: 00 to 8: 00 the next morning.

5. Artificial insemination

Artificial insemination is an important link to improve the conception rate of cows, especially the rectal grasp method is more effective. During the operation, insert the vas deferens flat into the cervix 5cm ~ 7cm, then slowly inject semen, and slowly pull out the vas deferens after insemination to prevent damage to the cow's vagina or semen outflow.

VI. Estrus mating

The opposite sex induces oestrus and uses the oestrus bull to chase the anestrus cow and make the cow estrus.

7. Hormones and drugs to promote estrus

For non-estrous cows, one of the following estrogens can be injected, the dosage of which is 25 mg ~ 35 mg of ethylene estradiol powder, 40 mg ~ 60 mg of diphenol ethane and 3 g ~ 5 g of triplet. After injection, the cows can mate in estrus.

8. Traditional Chinese medicine to promote estrus

30 grams of motherwort, 24 grams of pumpkin leaves, 15 grams of safflower, frying water to the cattle; old jujube split bark 0.5 kg, brown sugar 1 kg, add water 3 kg, frying water to cattle in the morning and evening twice, for 2 ~ 3 days, the cow can be in estrus.

IX. Strengthen the management after mating

Do not let the cow have strenuous exercise within 1 hour to 2 hours after mating, and try to avoid drinking water or overeating. It should be fed at night within 15 days after mating, and 1 kg ~ 1.5 kg of wheat bran or distiller's grains should be fed at the same time, and clean drinking water with a small amount of salt should be given to facilitate the implantation of fertilized eggs. The daily supply of salt is 25 g ~ 28 g.

During pregnancy, the growth of cows and the growth of fetus, placenta and uterus all need a lot of nutrients, so pregnant cows should be provided with feed rich in protein, vitamins and minerals. If the feed is single or insufficient, it will cause malnutrition of cows and fetuses, affect the normal growth and development of mothers and babies, and even cause fetal death in serious cases.

Special attention should be paid to the prevention of miscarriage, not to feed with moldy, spoiled, toxic or excessive acidity, and not to feed frozen and strongly irritating feed to prevent enteritis, miscarriage or weak or stillborn fetuses. Do not frighten pregnant cows to avoid uterine contraction and abortion caused by nervous tension. Frightened cows will also have increased adrenaline secretion and vasoconstriction, resulting in a decrease in blood flow to the placenta and easy to cause miscarriage; prevent mechanical abortion caused by bumping, slipping, whipping or jacking of cows.

10. Drug therapy for protecting the fetus

When freeze-dried Brucella sheep type 5 attenuated vaccine was injected into pregnant cows, 0.5 g progesterone was injected intramuscularly, once a day for 1 week. Remember: use dexamethasone carefully.
