Spring potatoes are generally sown in spring using potatoes harvested last autumn as seed potatoes. Because potato tubers have not passed or just passed the dormancy period from harvest to sowing, such potato seed tubers will emerge late or irregularly if they are directly sown, which will affect potato yield. Therefore, spring is the key period for potato germination to improve potato yield. The method of sprouting potatoes in spring is as follows:

potato

1, indoor germination method: choose a cool, ventilated, low temperature place, the whole potato cut into several small pieces (each to ensure bud mouth 1~3), and then wash the juice with cold water, dry the tubers in the indoor with wet sand layered seed germination, accumulation of three or four layers, potato tubers covered with straw to maintain moisture, indoor temperature maintained at about 20℃. When the bud grows to 1~0.5 cm, take it out and put it in outdoor shade for 1~3 days before sowing.

2, greenhouse germination method: in the plastic shed away from the door end of the walkway head, if the ground is too dry, can spray appropriate amount of water to make it slightly wet, spread 1 layer of potato pieces, sprinkle 1 layer of wet sand (pay attention to drug disinfection), so that you can even spread 3~5 layers of potato pieces, finally covered with sacks or grass cover moisture, but note, do not cover plastic film. After 5~7 days, when the potato bud is about 0.5 cm long, it can be refined and sown.

3, seedling germination method: the use of existing seedbeds, or dig a seedbed. After the bottom of the bed is leveled, spread 1 layer of potato blocks, sprinkle 1 layer of wet sand, spread 3~5 layers of potato blocks, and finally cover 1 layer of straw on the sand. Seedbed from a good bamboo arch, cover Yan film, all around with soil pressure. After 5~7 days, potato buds grow to about 0.5 cm, they can be refined bud sowing.

In the process of germination, we should adhere to the "five appropriate and five unfavorable", that is, potato tubers should be large rather than small, layers should be few rather than many, soil (sand) should be dry rather than wet, seedling training time should be long rather than short, buds should be short rather than long. Special attention is paid to: humidity in the germination process can not be too large. If the humidity during germination is large, it is easy to cause potato sprouts to take root, and these roots will shrink or die due to water loss during the bud refining stage before sowing. The suitable seedling length of potato is 0.5~1 cm. When the bud length reaches 0.5~1 cm, the tubers with buds are placed under indoor scattered light to make the buds green.
