What problems should be paid attention to in the peak laying season of layers in early winter?
Layer breeding
Early winter is the peak season for laying hens in spring, and it is also the season of lack of green feed and vitamin-rich feed. The key point is to grasp the following key points to ensure the high and stable production of laying hens.
Adjust humidity and ventilation properly
The humidity of the chicken house should not be too high, otherwise the chicken will have filthy feathers, loss of appetite, weak and sickly, and so on, thus delaying the start of production. If the ventilation is poor, the harmful gas in the air will increase and the oxygen content will decrease, which will also make the reserve hen stunted and delay the birth. Therefore, when the humidity of the chicken house is too high, more dry materials should be padded and properly ventilated to reduce the humidity.
Timely change of feed before egg feeding
When laying hens reach the age of 20 weeks, they should be replaced with pre-egg feed. The calcium content in the material should be 1%-1.2%, and the crude protein content should be 16.5%. The whole feeding process should be completed gradually in half a month, in case it suddenly causes diarrhea and other diseases of laying hens. After the laying rate reaches 3%, the feed should contain 3.5% calcium and 18.5% crude protein.
Adjust the temperature of the chicken house in time
The optimum laying temperature for laying hens is 18 ℃ ~ 23 ℃. When the temperature of the henhouse is too low and the feed is not increased in time, the production of laying hens will be delayed due to lack of energy, even if production starts and will soon stop production.
Control the timely adjustment of light
The reserve hens hatched in spring generally enter the stage of sexual maturity at the age of 15 weeks, and the natural light time in this period is gradually shortened. If the illumination time is short, the time to reach sexual maturity is long, so we should start to supplement light after 15 weeks of age to meet the needs of sexual maturity of chickens. The light time should be maintained at 15 weeks of age, but the light intensity should not be too strong to prevent the occurrence of bad habits such as feather pecking, toe pecking, back pecking and so on. The suitable light time for laying hens is generally 13-17 hours per day.
Properly control the weight of laying hens
At the same time of feeding and calcium supplement, it is necessary to control the evenness of chicken flock development, raise big and small hens in groups and adjust them regularly. Do not add or cut the material suddenly.
Provide enough drinking water to increase nutrition
Drinking water is very important for first-time hens. Generally, a hen needs 100g and 200g of water every day. Therefore, laying hens can not be short of water, it is best to use mobile flume water supply, but also can supply 2-3 times a week light salt water, in order to improve the physique of laying hens and increase feed intake. In addition, some carrots or green feed can be fed every day to improve the quality of eggs.
