Greenhouse melons have been on the market, but the majority of consumers generally report that they cannot taste the melons before. Technicians remind that in order to improve the quality and sweetness of melons, melon farmers must take six measures:

Muskmelon

One is to widen the temperature difference between day and night. The larger diurnal temperature difference is beneficial to the sugar accumulation of muskmelon. In the fruiting period of muskmelon, the diurnal temperature difference should be enlarged as much as possible. The temperature in the greenhouse is generally kept at 30 ℃-35 ℃ during the day, 13 ℃-14 ℃ at night, and the temperature difference is 16 ℃-18 ℃.

Second, less application of chemical fertilizer and heavy application of organic fertilizer. Another effective measure to improve the sweetness of muskmelon is mainly organic fertilizer with little or no application of chemical fertilizer. Organic fertilizer is generally chicken dung, bean cake-based, muskmelon base application of 15 cubic meters of chicken manure, 100-150 kg bean cake.

The third is to increase the application of potash fertilizer in the fruit period. The sweetness of muskmelon decreased significantly under high nitrogen and low potassium soil. Therefore, muskmelon should use less nitrogen fertilizer and more potassium fertilizer as far as possible. 8-10 kg potash fertilizer or 20 kg high potassium compound fertilizer can be applied with water each mu at the initial stage of melon fruiting.

Fourth, water control before muskmelon ripening. If the soil moisture of muskmelon is too large during maturity, the sweetness of muskmelon will not only decrease, but also rot. In particular, melons within 10 days before maturity must pay attention to water control.

The fifth is to keep enough light. The greenhouse film should be wiped frequently, and attention should be paid to removing the shaded leaves around the melon to enhance the light transmittance between the melon plants.

Sixth, timely harvest. Muskmelon generally develops for 30 to 35 days before it can fully mature, high sugar content and good flavor. However, in order to go on the market early, melon farmers often harvest early, which seriously reduces the sweetness of melons. Therefore, the most basic measure to ensure the sweetness of muskmelon is timely harvest.
