Harmless treatment of livestock and poultry

In the breeding process, any link may produce dead or unidentified livestock, but as long as the harmless treatment of dead livestock is done in strict accordance with relevant laws and regulations to reduce pollution to the ecological environment, the health and sustainable development of breeding industry can be promoted. There are many harmless treatment methods for dead livestock, and the following are generally more commonly used:

1. Deep burial treatment

First of all, we must choose the appropriate buried field. The site must be selected at a place far away from residential areas, livestock breeding areas, water bodies and water sources, with stable geology, and at the downwind of residential areas, downstream of living water intake points, avoiding rainwater collection areas, facilitating transportation and disinfection of sick and dead livestock.

Second, dig deep. For large batches of dead livestock, the dead livestock should be at least three meters above the ground after covering the soil; for individual dead livestock, the dead livestock should also be at least one meter above the ground after covering the soil, and it should be ensured that the dead livestock will not be picked up by wild dogs and other animals.

Second, we must do a good job of disinfection and sterilization treatment. Deep pit must be paved with a large amount of quicklime, caustic soda and other disinfectants, and then put a layer of dead livestock spread a layer of quicklime, and finally covered with soil. After covering the soil, spray disinfectant around the buried ground.

2. Incineration

Incineration treatment is generally adopted for livestock breeding (such as pigs, cattle, sheep, etc.). If there is a waste treatment site with incinerator around the farm, the sick and dead livestock can be transported to the waste treatment plant and incinerated with professional incinerator. This method is more suitable for large-scale livestock farms and other enterprises harmless treatment of dead livestock.

For farms or small-scale farmers without waste incineration plants nearby, they can build their own small incinerators to burn sick and dead livestock with ecological fuels such as methane and firewood. However, they must install a supporting cover and exhaust gas duct, and install a simple spraying device at the exhaust gas outlet for purification of exhaust gas. In addition, the incinerator should be built in an open area far away from water sources and residential areas, and at the downwind of residential areas.

3. Natural decomposition treatment

The natural decomposition method is to build a large cement pool well with a sealed cover. The bottom of the pool needs to be paved with cement to harden. The dead livestock are thrown into the pool well, and then the cover is sealed tightly to allow the dead livestock to decompose naturally. If it is a disease caused by livestock, it is best to mix quicklime together into the pool well.

The decomposition pool should also be constructed far away from water sources and residential areas. Although the initial investment cost is relatively high, natural decomposition is the most environmentally friendly and energy-saving method for harmless treatment of dead livestock. The treatment capacity is also relatively good, which is suitable for centralized treatment of large numbers of dead livestock.
