Farm cattle

In some rural areas of our country, farming cattle is still an indispensable driving force of agricultural production, and it is the treasure of farmers in poor mountain areas. Scientific feeding and management, reasonable service, especially strengthening the feeding and management of farming cattle during the busy agricultural period is of great significance to protect the health of farming cattle and promote agricultural production.

1. The main points of raising cattle

During the busy period of farming, cattle are generally fed three times in the morning, in the middle of the day and in the evening, and the forage grass is fed again in the middle of the night. Concentrate can be fed twice in the morning and in the middle. Feed more grass and hay in the evening. Feeding should be carried out about two hours before the service, so that the cattle have sufficient time to feed and regurgitate, so that after service, they should rest for about half an hour before feeding. First feed the crushed coarse material, then spread a small amount of concentrate in the coarse material, add the right amount of water and mix well until finished. It is best to sprinkle some salt water on the leftover grass so that the cattle can eat up all the remaining forage. In the diet, it is better to be composed of coarse feed, green succulent feed and appropriate concentrate. To give sufficient drinking water to cattle, drinking water is generally 3-5 times a day, with a total amount of 30-40 kg. Feed 20 to 30 grams of salt every day. After conscription, do not immediately drink water, need to rest for about half an hour before drinking, but also give the cattle a proper rest time in order to regurgitate.

2. Key points of management of farming cattle

The enclosure should be spacious, clean, ventilated and dry. It is necessary to cushion, get up and sweep diligently, so that the cattle can have a comfortable rest. It is necessary to remove dust and feces from the cow's body surface, maintain cow hygiene, promote blood circulation, eliminate fatigue, improve health, and prevent skin diseases. After daily service, the mud on the cow's hooves should be cleaned, the hooves should be kept round and straight, and the hooves should be trimmed 2 or 3 times a year. Timely detection of cow disease, such as loss of energy, loss of appetite, dry nose, abnormal feces, elevated body temperature and other symptoms, should immediately stop exertion, and timely treatment. Pay attention to heat prevention and fly control, because the cattle sweat glands are underdeveloped, heat resistance is poor, therefore, after the service, the cattle will be driven to a shady place to rest, the buffalo had better go into the pond to take a bath to dissipate heat. Use residual grass, bauhinia and other smoke in the barn in summer to prevent mosquitoes and flies from infestating cattle.

Third, the key points of the service of farming cattle

The gear should fit the cow body, the size and angle of the flail should be appropriate, the length of the rope should be adjusted, and the plough and rake should be matched to improve the efficiency and avoid injury accidents. In the process of military service, we must implement the principle of "the combination of support and use", achieve the affinity between people and cattle, and do not whip at will. To combine work and rest, you should generally work for 2 hours, rest for half an hour, and work for no more than 8 hours a day. If the cattle are found to have neck extension, back depression, tail root lifting, hoof tip scratching, inconsistent speed, continuous urination and so on, appropriate rest should be given. If the end of the service, loss of appetite, but no symptoms of other diseases, should first consider the performance of excessive fatigue, to appropriately extend the rest time.
