Ginger is mostly planted in the open air, generally sowing from March to mid-April in the south, and sowing in early May in the north. Ginger is afraid of high temperature, but ginger must be over summer, so how to plant and manage summer ginger?

Ginger

I. selection of sites

Ginger planting needs to choose sandy, deep soil, loose and fertile land, convenient drainage and irrigation, avoid continuous cropping.

II. Land preparation and application of basic fertilizer

Before sowing ginger, 1 000-1500kg farm manure, 50kg calcium magnesium phosphate fertilizer and 20kg compound fertilizer were applied as base fertilizer, and the base fertilizer should be ploughed and raked evenly. Divide the border into ditches, each with a width of 1 meter and a height of 20 centimeters, and open a ginger sowing ditch across the border.

Third, planting ginger, treatment and sowing

Before sowing, put the ginger seeds in the sun for 2 days, then soak the ginger with 2% formalin for 8 hours (pay attention to washing the disinfected ginger with clean water), or soak the ginger with agricultural streptomycin for 7 hours. The suitable sowing time is from early March to mid-April in the south and early May in the north. Sowing specifications. Generally, the row spacing is 0.25 m × 0.4 m, and the ginger is sown with 3500MUR 4000 per mu.

IV. Field management

1. Topdressing at the right time. Topdressing at seedling stage was mainly light and light fertilizer, and then heavy topdressing twice, the first was the prosperous period of ginger from early June to early July, which was the peak period of ginger fertilizer absorption, and the second time was the rapid expansion period of ginger tuber from early September to early October when 20kg compound fertilizer and urea 10 kg; were applied per mu, and 30kg compound fertilizer and potassium chloride 10kg per mu.

2. Proper shading and covering. High temperature and strong sunshine in summer are not conducive to ginger over the summer, so shading is very necessary. You can interplant corn, soybeans and other crops between the border of ginger or build a shed for shade. At the same time, cover straw between the rows of ginger, reduce ground radiation and increase soil moisture.

3. Water management. The soil must be kept moist during the whole growth period of ginger. When ginger is dry, it is required to irrigate "horse race water" and clear the border ditch waterlogging in time.

Prevention and control of diseases and insect pests

(1) Prevention and control of ginger plague: select disease-free ginger before sowing and disinfect the ginger. In the early stage of ginger plague, agricultural streptomycin or Yeqingshuang or Bordeaux solution was sprayed once every 5 days for 3 times. It is necessary to dig up and destroy seriously ill ginger plants in time, and disinfect the ginger holes with lime.

(2) Prevention and control of ginger anthracnose: methyl topiramate + carbendazim was used at the initial stage of occurrence.

(3) Control of ginger stripe borer: trichlorfon + insecticidal was used in the occurrence period.
