Summer is the key period for the rapid growth of sugarcane jointing, and good field management is the key to harvest sugarcane.

Sugar cane

First, heavy application of stem fertilizer. During the extension period, sugarcane has large roots, leaves and stems, and has a large demand for nutrients, and the amount of fertilizer absorption accounts for more than 50% of the total fertilizer absorption. Therefore, we must focus on stem fertilizer, mainly nitrogen fertilizer, promote the growth and thickening of sugarcane stem, prevent premature senescence, and increase yield and sugar content. Apply 10-13 kg of urea per mu, 2500-3000 kg of rotten human feces and urine, and 25 kg of cake fertilizer, such as insufficient base fertilizer and early phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, can be combined with phosphorus and potassium fertilizer. If the sugarcane plant growth is exuberant, the leaf color is thick green, may apply less; the growth condition is poor, premature withering yellow or premature senility, should apply again as soon as possible.

Second, Gao Pei Tu can prevent lodging. Fertilize and cultivate the soil at the same time. Soil cultivation can not only preserve fertilizer and improve fertilizer efficiency, but also develop sugarcane roots and prevent lodging. The specific approach is: through many times of thin soil cultivation, to achieve high soil cultivation, each time, only cover the first section of sugarcane, so that the root of sugarcane head, which is conducive to the growth of sugarcane. In the process of soil cultivation, attention should be paid to edge management, such as fertilizing and cultivating soil, so as to prevent people and animals from trampling, so as to overcome the phenomenon of edge elimination.

Third, peel off old leaves to prevent diseases and insect pests. The field permeability of sugarcane is one of the important conditions for the growth of sugarcane. In the later growth stage, sugarcane grows a new leaf every 10 days. Therefore, foot leaves and withered and yellow old leaves should be peeled off in time, enhance ventilation and light transmission, promote photosynthesis, make stems stout, enhance lodging resistance, increase sugar content, help to control diseases and insect pests, reduce harm, and improve sugarcane yield.

Fourth, irrigation to prevent drought and strengthen the stem. From August to September, sugarcane has entered a fierce period of jointing, with good water and fertilizer conditions, which can grow 3-3.5 cm per day and 8-90 cm per month, so we should pay attention to irrigation. Especially in times of drought, it should be irrigated in time, and the soil water content should be kept at 60% and 80%. At this time, to cover sugarcane beds to reduce soil water evaporation, old leaves or plastic film can be used, or cash crops can be interplanted. It can be pumped for irrigation under certain conditions to avoid reducing production due to drought. Where there is water, fill it well to ensure a good harvest of sugarcane.

Fifth, prevent and control diseases and pests to ensure a bumper harvest. August-September is not only the growing season of sugarcane jointing, but also the period of high incidence of diseases and insect pests. Such as July stripe borer, Chilo suppressalis, August-September beetles, filariasis, etc., especially filariasis, eat sugarcane roots, will cause sugarcane wilting, lodging, great harm. Measures for prevention and control: pesticide should be applied timely according to the situation of the insect. For sugarcane fields with withered heart, 1.5 kg carbofuran per mu can kill not only ants, borer, but also underground pests, such as ground tiger, beetle, filariasis and so on.
