Balsam pear is rich in vitamin C and glycosides and has a special bitter taste. Planting spring balsam pear has the advantages of light disease, low cost, high yield and good benefit. The high-yield cultivation techniques of spring balsam pear are as follows:

Bitter gourd

Select improved varieties and raise seedlings at the right time. Select high yield, high efficiency, high quality and hybrid balsam pear varieties. Such as Changbai melon, Dabai balsam pear, Yuefeng No. 1, Green No. 2, emerald and so on. Sowing and raising seedlings when the average temperature of the day is more than 10 ℃. Strive for timely and early sowing in order to prolong the vegetative growth period of balsam pear. Raise seedlings with nutrition cup (bag), and choose the garden with leeward to the sun, close to water source and convenient management. First soak balsam pear seeds in warm water of 50 ℃-60 ℃, promote germination and whitening, sow on demand, gently press the root tip down into the nutrient soil, and build a 40-50cm arch bamboo frame, cover with film, heat preservation and moisturizing, cold-proof and strong seedlings, and uncover the film to refine the seedlings one week before transplanting.

Apply enough base fertilizer and transplant at the right time. The base fertilizer is generally 1500 kg of mature farm manure, 25 kg of phosphate fertilizer and 10 kg of potash fertilizer, which are evenly mixed and applied to the hole and covered with a thin layer of fine soil. Before sowing, the soil is prepared, the width of the border is 2 meters, two rows are planted in each row, the distance between rows is 120cm, and the distance between holes is 40cm. It is suitable to plant 1100-1400 seedlings per mu of balsam pear, transplant when the seedlings have 3-4 true leaves, and apply "marriage fertilizer"-- light human feces and urine water for 3-5 days after transplanting.

Set up a frame to draw the vine, the right time to topdressing. When the seedlings draw vines, build a herringbone bamboo frame. When you start to climb the vine, tie the vine manually and lead the vine to the shelf. After introducing the vine on the shelf, remove the side vine, the over-dense old leaf and the thin side vine in the upper part of the balsam pear plant under the 40cm, ventilated and transparent. Topdressing with water and fertilizer is better, so as to apply frequently and thinly to promote early growth and rapid development of seedlings. After blooming and bearing melons, it is necessary to top fertilize once, generally applying 20-25 kg compound fertilizer per mu. During the picking period of balsam pear, fertilizer should be applied every 7 days to prolong the harvest period.
