The critical period for summer corn sowing is coming soon. According to the problems existing in perennial corn fertilization, attention should be paid to fertilization this year:

corn fertilization

1. Avoid large amount of fertilizer: some farmers apply fertilizer up to 50 kg per mu or even more, which will cause fertilizer waste and corn quality decline, and will also pollute the soil. The yield and quality of maize depend not only on the amount of fertilizer, but also on the method of fertilizer application and the improvement of fertilizer utilization rate.

2. Avoid single fertilizer variety: some farmers only apply urea for summer jade. Although nitrogen is supplemented, corn and soil are still short of phosphorus, potassium and other nutrients, so the number of corn ears is still reduced, the 1000-grain weight is reduced, the yield is reduced, the lodging resistance is not resistant, the disease resistance and insect resistance are weakened, and the disease and insect resistance are easily infected.

3. Avoid heavy fertilizer before and light fertilizer later: heavy fertilizer before and light fertilizer later will cause low fertilizer utilization rate, sufficient fertilizer in the early stage, good corn growth but excessive growth, closed field, delayed corn reproductive growth period, poor growth in the later stage, even de-fertilization, and low corn yield.

4. Avoid improper application of seed fertilizer: First, the amount of seed fertilizer applied is too large, and the amount per mu exceeds 7.5 kg. Second, improper fertilizer application, seed fertilizer to use nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium compound fertilizer, diammonium phosphate and other granular fertilizer. The third is the reason of sowing machinery. The horizontal distance between sowing belt and fertilizer belt is less than 5 cm, which causes burning seedlings. The distance between corn seeds and fertilizer should exceed 10cm.

In addition, zinc fertilizer and other trace element fertilizers should be supplemented to improve corn yield.
