Rabbit plague

Rabbit plague is an acute and severe infectious disease caused by virus, which has the advantages of fierce attack, rapid spread, short disease period, high morbidity and mortality, and is one of the main diseases harmful to rabbit industry.

Rabbit plague occurs frequently in winter and spring, and diseased rabbits, recessive infectious diseases and sub-healthy rabbits are the main sources of transmission. The morbidity and mortality of young and middle-aged rabbits over 3 months old are as high as 100%, while the incidence of young rabbits is low, but the mortality rate is high, and lactation rabbits rarely get sick.

Rabbit breeding should adhere to the principle of giving priority to prevention and treatment, strive for self-breeding, avoid buying in the epidemic area during introduction, isolate and observe for one month after introduction, and regularly disinfect the site, cage, etc., and inject rabbit plague vaccine to the rabbits.

At the age of 35-40 days after weaning, the young rabbits were immunized with the single combined vaccine of rabbit plague for the first time, with 2 ml subcutaneously injected into the neck of each rabbit, and 1-1.5 ml twice at the age of 60-65 days, and then injected every six months.

When rabbit plague occurs in the rabbit group, the same group rabbits without disease should be urgently inoculated with anti-rabbit plague serum, and the development of the epidemic can be controlled within 24 hours. if there is no local anti-rabbit plague serum, double injection of rabbit plague single vaccine can be used to effectively control the spread of rabbit plague, and the dead rabbits should be treated innocuously.

The sites where rabbit plague occurs, contaminated cages, water tanks, and the environment should be strictly disinfected. Disinfectants can be used with 3% fire alkali, 20% Rue 30% bleach, 2% formalin, 3% peracetic acid, and so on. If rabbit plague occurs seriously, all treatment methods can be taken and can be reared after disinfection for half a year.
