How to make ducks lay more eggs in spring
Ducks have two egg laying peaks in a year, the first is from March to May, and the second is from August to October, among which spring laying is more prominent. Therefore, it is very important to do well the feeding and management of egg-laying ducks in these two periods, especially in spring.
Duck
1. Choose a good grazing site. Before the spring seedlings turn green, the female ducks are herded into ponds and ditches for grazing, allowing them to feed on fish and shrimp, Loach and aquatic organisms. When it comes to spring ploughing, you can graze in a green fertilizer field that has been ploughed and ready to plant seedlings, which has a lot of natural feed such as grass seeds, grass roots, earthworms and insects for mother ducks. The rice fields planted with seedlings cannot be used as grazing grounds because they are sprinkled with chemical fertilizers or pesticides.
2. Careful grazing. The temperature in early spring is low, so it is appropriate to graze late and return to grazing early, and prolong the grazing time every day. When grazing, you should pay attention to the temperature of the water, and walk slowly into the water and uphill to prevent damage to duck feet. Duck farmers in the river network area can use the river to graze, grazing should go up against the current, because at this time the duck is physically strong and catches a lot of food. In case of windy weather, graze against the wind and properly control the walking speed of the ducks to avoid the wind blowing duck feathers and make the ducks catch cold. In the coming year, female ducks will move slowly because of their large size. When they are full, they like to lie down on the ground and do not walk. It is easy to accumulate fat and affect egg laying. Therefore, it is necessary to control it and make it active as much as possible to increase the amount of exercise. Egg-laying ducks are timid and frightened, and each grazing route should not be changed too suddenly. Male ducks are more sexually active during the peak laying period, so we should pay attention to the ratio of male ducks to female ducks in order to avoid duck riots and affect the laying of female ducks.
3. Replenish the feed at the right time. During the peak laying season, female ducks are more likely to lay eggs, and they graze and swim a lot every day, but although the volume of live food and green fodder is large, the nutritional concentration is very low, so it is generally difficult to meet the nutritional needs of laying ducks. Therefore, feed should be replenished every day according to the number of eggs laid by ducks and the feeding condition of ducks. Ducks should also be properly fed with energy feeds such as grains when the temperature is low, so as to enhance the ability of female ducks to protect themselves from the cold.
