Duck feed preparation and matters needing attention to meet the nutritional requirements of ducks at different stages
The cost of feed accounts for 60-80% of the total cost of duck production, which shows the importance of feed in the process of raising ducks and the high cost of feed. Therefore, self-made duck feed can not only meet the nutritional needs of ducks at different stages, but also reduce the cost of raising ducks. However, self-made feed requires duck breeders to understand the role of various nutrients and their accurate content in various feeds, and to prepare the best diet with reference to feeding standards.
Duck
Principles of duck feed preparation
(1) the selection of feed should be in accordance with local conditions. Try to make use of the local duck feed resources, on the basis of considering the nutritional value, we should also pay attention to the price in order to reduce the cost.
(2) the self-made duck feed should be close to the feeding standard, so as not to cause excessive or lack of nutrition in the duck feed and cause diseases due to some lack of nutrition. When the energy level of duck feed is high, the feed intake is less; when the energy level of duck feed is low, the feed intake is more. Therefore, the ratio of energy to protein in duck feed should be balanced, otherwise it will increase feed consumption.
(3) pay attention to the quality and palatability of duck feed, and it is forbidden to use moldy or harmful raw materials to prepare duck feed. Do not prepare too much feed each time. It is advisable for ducks to finish eating within 10 days and keep the feed fresh.
(4) the raw materials needed for all kinds of feed should be fully mixed evenly, especially vitamins, trace elements and drugs, otherwise there will be adverse reactions in ducks.
(5) Duck feed should be relatively stable, and when it must be changed, it is better to have a transition period of one week. Special ducks should pay more attention during the peak laying period.
(6) the content of crude fiber in the diet should not exceed 5%, preferably about 3%.
(7) the kinds of self-made duck feed should be as many as possible, and the nutrition can cooperate with each other and learn from each other's strong points to make up for their weaknesses.
Duck feed
Problems needing attention in the process of preparing and preserving duck feed
(1) Ducks often feed on molluscs such as fresh fish, shrimp and snails, which contain thiamine enzymes that destroy vitamin B1, so ducks are prone to vitamin B1 deficiency. Vitamin B1 deficiency mostly occurs in 2-week-old ducklings. Therefore, ducks that can eat aquatic animals should increase the content of vitamin B1 in their diet, especially in the diet of ducklings.
(2) Vitamin D deficiency often occurs in laying ducks, which is caused by insufficient supply of vitamin D in diet or insufficient sunlight exposure to poultry. The diseased ducks showed poor growth, dishevelled feathers, no luster, decreased egg production, thin shell, soft shell eggs, and eggshells were easy to break. Therefore, cod liver oil or vitamin D3, A, E should be added to duck feed.
(3) Ducks lay eggs in the early hours of the morning, so the blood calcium concentration of ducks should be kept high in the early hours of the morning, otherwise the probability of laying sand shell eggs and abnormal eggs is higher. Therefore, in the self-made feed, there should be not only calcium sources that are easy to absorb, but also calcium sources that are difficult to absorb. Stone powder and shell powder are usually selected as calcium sources.
(4) the raw materials and prepared feed should be kept in a ventilated, light-sheltered and dry place, otherwise the fat in duck feed will be oxidized and vitamin An and vitamin E will be destroyed. In order to prevent feed hardening and mildew, put a layer of moisture-proof material between the feed and the ground. In addition, we should also pay attention to the prevention of insect pests and rodent pests.
