Last Updated: 2024/11/09, Pakchoi likes cold and is not resistant to heat. Skillfully planting pakchoi in summer to create a bumper harvest.

Pakchoi likes to be cold and cool, and the whole growth period of pakchoi planted in summer is in high temperature, often due to hot sun, drought, torrential rain and so on. The planting technology of Chinese cabbage covered with sunshade net ensures a bumper harvest of Chinese cabbage in summer.

Summer pakchoi

1. Sunshade net floating surface cover

After the seeds in the field are sown, covered with soil and watered, the border surface is covered with a sunshade net, and after emergence, the sunshade net is removed immediately. The sunshade net can be covered on another newly sown pakchoi field and recycled repeatedly. The utility model has the advantages of neat emergence, labor-saving and labor-saving, and can prevent the "Kang bud" dead seedlings from being attacked by torrential rain before emergence.

2. The planting of sunshade net is mainly small arch shed or short flat shed.

In addition to covering the border of pakchoi from sowing to seedling emergence, a low flat shed or small arch shed with a height of 0.8-1m was also built on the border, which was covered with sunshade net, so that the seedlings of pakchoi could grow under the conditions of lower soil temperature, free from thunderstorm and strong light, and the yield and quality were more stable. 3-5 days before harvest, the sunshade net must be removed to make the leaf color of pakchoi more close to the natural state and improve the quality.

3. Planting covered with sunshade net in greenhouse

Using the longitudinal pull rods on both sides of the greenhouse in summer, pull up the film-pressing line, and then lay the sunshade net on the film-pressing line. When growing Chinese cabbage, the sunshade net can cover the roof of the greenhouse, and the film can also be covered with a net. The effect of growing Chinese cabbage in this "one film, one net" rainproof awning is better.

Note that in addition to covering the sunshade net, we should also select excellent varieties of pakchoi with heat resistance and disease resistance, such as Reyou 1, Aiza 1, Shanghai pakchoi, Hangzhou pakchoi and so on. In addition, according to the summer climatic conditions, direct seeding in stages and batches, expanding the sowing rate, generally using 1.5-2kg per 667m2, planting spacing 4-6cm when the seedlings are fixed, and close sowing can shorten the harvest time. And select cool ventilation, good water retention loam (night tide soil or black sand soil), to be close to the water source, convenient irrigation and drainage, and master the watering principles of light and frequent watering, such as sprinkler irrigation is better. It is generally harvested 18-25 days after sowing, and can produce 1000-1500kg pakchoi per mu.
