The sea area of cultured scallop is generally offshore, with clear and transparent sea water, with a depth of 10 ~ 20 meters, high nutrients, abundant phytoplankton, light pollution, up to the standard index, small wind and waves, weak underwater current and few enemy organisms.

Scallop

Prepare enough stakes, ropes and buoys for scallop farming in March or April or July and August. The 100-meter-long rope raft is 24 strands of flax rope or 5 cm thick nylon rope, the two ends of the rope raft are fixed with two 2-meter long thick acacia wood stakes, and the upper end is a buoy made of plastic or hollow glass. Every 0.5 meters, a special scallop cage of 8 ~ 10 layers is tied with fine nylon rope, which is used as an attachment to scallop seedlings for its growth, and a buoy is fastened to 20 cm apart to ensure that the rope raft floats on the water. With a distance of more than 5 meters, it is convenient for the farmers' vessels to pass through the culture area.

Scallop seedlings can be released twice a year, once in May and June, and once in September and October. Put the seedlings in the scallop cage, put about 20 scallop seedlings in each layer, put a total of 8-10 layers, and tie the released scallops to the culture rope. Bay scallop is resistant to high temperature and grows relatively fast. it is released in the first year and harvested in the same year.

Cultivate

1. Eliminate the enemy. Hermit crabs, sea trailers, large seaweeds, seaweed, and so on are all enemies of scallops. We should go to sea frequently, observe more, catch and inspect scallop cages and nylon rope cages hanging seedlings at any time, and remove enemy organisms or foreign bodies attached to them in a timely manner.

3. Wash cages and dishes frequently. Scallop has a high demand for sea water, so it should be observed in time, rinse the cage frequently, remove seaweed and other foreign bodies, grow to a certain size of scallop, turn the cage back in time to facilitate the inhalation of fresh sea water and promote its healthy growth.

The scallop grows fast and harvests two crops a year. When the scallop shell is as long as 5cm ~ 8cm, the meat of the scallop is the fattest, that is, it enters the harvest period. When harvesting, the nylon rope raft with scallops is cut off with a special knife.
