Megalobrama amblycephala, also known as Wuchang fish, herbivorous fish, fast growth, strong adaptability. Its meat is tender, delicious and nutritious. Artificial propagation of herring includes three stages: parent fish breeding, drug induced labor and artificial incubation.

Brood fish breeding. When adult herring is caught in lakes, reservoirs or ponds, herring with healthy physique, complete scales and fins and no disease and injury can be cultivated as parent fish, or selected from herring species. When selecting parent fish, pay attention to the ratio of male to female. The number of male fish should be slightly more than that of female fish. Generally, the ratio of male to female is between 1:1.5 and 1:2.5. The broodstock collected in the spring of the current year can be matured by short-term cultivation. The parent fish cultivation pond is about 1 mu in area and 1.2 m in depth. It can stock 100~150 kg of bream and 4~6 parent fish of silver carp to adjust the water quality. In early spring, the parent fish of Megalobrama amblycephala after wintering, weight slightly reduced, and at this time green feed less, should mainly feed concentrate, so that the fish as soon as possible to restore fat. When the green fodder is rich, adjust the ratio of concentrated fodder to green fodder to 1:1.6. 15~20 days before spawning, stop feeding concentrated feed, concentrated feed is bean cake, malt, etc., green feed is bitter grass, black irrigation of whorl leaves, lettuce leaves, etc. The feeding amount of green feed should be eaten within 4~6 hours every day. The maximum amount of concentrated feed for each parent fish is 25~30 grams per day. New water should be added frequently in the culture pond to promote gonad development of the fish. When the water temperature reaches 16℃~17℃ near the spawning period, the male and female fish should be separated to avoid sporadic self-production of the parent fish.

The parent fish drug induced labor. The application of drug induced procreation is more common, and the parent fish with good gonad development should be selected for injection of oxytocin. Pituitaries, chorionic hormones and LRA-A were the main oxytocin in carp and crucian carp. The dosage of pituitary gland is 6~8 mg/kg body weight of female fish, 600 mg of chorion, 60 ~100 ug of LRH-A, the effect is better, and the male fish is halved. The method of one-time intrathoracic injection is generally adopted to produce the product. When the water temperature is 24℃~26℃, the aging time is about 8 hours.

Artificial incubation. After debonding, the eggs of Megalobrama amblycephala can be put into an incubation tank for incubation, and the egg density is 500,000 - 1,000,000 eggs per 100 kg of water. Artificial incubation of herring larvae can also be carried out in the incubation loop, the density of eggs is 700,000 ~ 800,000 per cubic meter, because the herring eggs are small in size and large in proportion, so the water flow should be appropriate. Compared with grass carp eggs and silver carp eggs, the incubation water flow is larger to prevent the fish eggs from sinking and dying. Generally, when the water temperature is 25℃~26℃, it can hatch in 1~2 days, and when the waist point appears in 6~6.5 mm in 4~5 days after hatching, it can sprout too many, and it can be cultured in the pond or transported outside.
