In order to maximize the value of laying hens, many farmers have over-selected laying hens, resulting in many diseases such as gout, sudden death and so on. Among them, the incidence and mortality of gout in laying hens are higher. Today, the editor introduces to the farmers the symptoms and prevention methods of gout in laying hens.

Laying hens

1. Clinical symptoms

Layers with high calcium gout are depressed, fluffy, like to lie down, loss of appetite, emaciation, weakness, closed eyes, empty crop, diarrhea, white urate in chicken feces. Most of the diseased layers' metatarsals and toes were swollen, thickened and deformed, the joints swelled by 1 to 1.5 times, the joints were hard to touch, the hens dodged and struggled gently, the layers with mild symptoms were unstable, and the layers with severe symptoms could not stand, paralyzed and abandoned food. The egg production of laying hens decreased or stopped.

2. Differential diagnosis

The chicken house is well ventilated, dry, the air is fresh, the temperature is suitable, the content of crude protein in the feed is less than 18%, sodium bicarbonate, sulfonamides and other diseases are not overeaten, and there are no diseases such as renal infectious bronchitis. Diagnosed as high calcium gout in laying hens.

3. Prevention and control methods

① found that diseased chickens were singled out immediately, diagnosed in time, and identified the cause before treatment.

② found out that high calcium caused gout, and timely subtract the extra bone meal, stone powder and calcium hydrogen phosphate from layer feed.

③ drink kidney swelling antidote, drink 0.2% water every morning, that is, 100g kidney swelling antidote to 50kg water, 3 days as a course, and drink enough water in the afternoon.

④ fed greenish succulent feed to diseased hens, and added about 0.01% potassium permanganate and 0.5% edible alkali or 0.5% sodium bicarbonate to the drinking water of laying hens for 3 days, and then added 0.2% sodium bicarbonate to promote uric acid excretion in laying hens. (note: if an antidote for kidney swelling has been given to laying hens, sodium bicarbonate does not need to be added.) Proper addition of vitamin A can speed up the recovery of laying hens.

⑤ strengthens the scientific feeding and management of laying hens and the work of hygiene and epidemic prevention. The henhouse has plenty of sunshine and cleans frequently.

According to the reasonable formula of laying hens of different ages, ⑥ should pay attention to the balance of calcium and phosphorus in feed.
