Field snail is rich in nutrition, rich in protein, vitamins and amino acids. Is a typical high-protein, low-fat food. Wild field snails begin to mate and lay eggs naturally from April to May every year when the water temperature is more than 16 ℃. The field snails of Chinese field snail, Beijing field snail and Chinese round snail are suitable for artificial breeding.

Field snail culture

I. feeding and management of snail species

Female snails ovulate every 25 to 30 days until October. As few as dozens of tablets, as many as 2000. The farming snail pond should choose the water source is convenient, the bottom material is rich in humus, the water body is not polluted, the water depth should be 30cm to 80cm, the area can be large or small, about 100 field snails can be released per square meter. Thicker bamboo and wooden sticks for snail spawning should be inserted in and near the pool. Artificial feeding is mainly made of duckweed, human feces and urine, rice bran and wheat bran, twice a week, and the amount of feed each time is about 30% of the weight of snails.

2. Feeding and management of young snails

Field snails do not have strict requirements on the environment. Ponds, canals, rice fields, buckets, large pots and so on can all be used as stocking ponds for field snails, with a scale of 1000 young snails per square meter. The main food of young snails is the microorganisms in the water or the young stems and leaves of aquatic plants. Artificial rearing field snails should apply certain farm manure to cultivate and reproduce plankton. In addition, the organic fertilizer retted by weeds by the pool is also a good feed for raising field snails. Can also feed a variety of grain processed wheat bran, waste vegetables and so on. The amount of manure applied each time is 30% of the snail weight, and the feeding amount of rice bran and other concentrate is 10% of the snail body, twice a week.

3. Problems that should be paid attention to in field snail breeding

Snails in the water breathe on their gills, so pay attention to the amount of dissolved oxygen in the water, often inject new water, and remove too many aquatic plants. The snail is afraid of the heat but not the cold. It will not die if it is away from the water for a few days in winter, but it will die after a few hours in the heat. In case of high temperature, the water level should be deepened or shade should be added to prevent heat and cool the snail. Also pay attention to prevent snail eggs from being harmed by ants, spiders, cockroaches and so on. In addition, to do a good job in preventing snails from escaping, although snails are not flexible, they are also easy to escape, so it is necessary to strengthen the construction of escape prevention facilities at the outlet of aquaculture ponds.
