Grass carp eat grass, and young grass carps with a body length of 5cm begin to eat grass. For grass carps weighing more than half a kilogram, each grass carp can eat 125 to 180 grams per day. Therefore, when feeding grass carp with forage, you should master the following skills:

Grass carp

First, feed more fresh and tender forage with rich nutrition, less cellulose and easy to digest. Fresh and tender forage can not only make grass carp grow faster and reduce disease, but also reduce feeding amount, reduce breeding cost and improve economic benefit. Forage selection of parallel veins of long-leaf green grass such as ryegrass, Sudan grass and wild long-leaf grass, grass carp do not like reticulate leaf forage. Usually, we should also observe the grass carp eating grass, should feed more grass carp like to eat grass, in order to meet the growth needs of grass carp; should not feed or try to feed grass carp anorexia grass.

Second, reduce the feeding amount of aquatic plants. 15 kilograms of terrestrial aquatic plants can make grass carp gain 1 kilogram of meat, while eating 60-80 kilograms of aquatic plants can grow 1 kilogram of meat. Therefore, in the case of sufficient terrestrial aquatic plants, feed little or no aquatic plants.

Third, feed different fodder according to the caliber of grass carp. Young fish with a small caliber should not be fed with coarse and hard forage, but should be fed with forage such as sedge and duckweed, or scraps of fresh and tender long-leaf grass. After that, with the increase of the age of grass carp, the caliber of grass carp increases gradually, and it can be transferred to feeding conventional fresh and tender forage.

Fourth, the feeding method is appropriate. Grass carp should be fed regularly, sufficiently and evenly every day, and strive to spread the forage so that the fish can eat well and well, so as to improve the effect of breeding. The amount of forage feed should be adjusted according to the weather, water quality, grass carp activities and so on. Forage that has been stored for too long and moldy is strictly prohibited to prevent grass carp from becoming infected with disease.
