Last Updated: 2024/11/22, Recently, it is raining in most parts of the country, and it is stuffy and wet. Flowers are most afraid of this kind of weather. They will either have insect spots or rotten leaves and roots, and they will die in a few days. Take a quick look at the following knowledge points, check to see if there is a problem with your flowers, and treat the problem as soon as you find it!

Dampness accumulated in flowerpot

On rainy days, flowerpots tend to get wet for two reasons: on rainy days, there is more humidity and less evaporation. If you water them normally, the flowers can only absorb a small part, and the rest will accumulate in the pot if you can't evaporate. Rain Water is far more than flowers need.

Solution 1: less watering on rainy days, flowerpots with holes

This method is mainly to prevent and avoid stagnant water in the basin, and we must water less on rainy days, especially the flowers that are afraid of waterlogging, such as rich trees, gentleman orchids, longevity and so on. If you leave it outside in the rain, you must have a hole in the bottom of the basin, and the hole in the big flowerpot should also be bigger.

Solution 2: laying bricks under the basin to isolate the water source.

Do not put the flowers outside in the rain directly on the ground. on the one hand, the water in the basin is not easy to seep out, and on the other hand, contact with the wet ground is tantamount to soaking in water, which is easy to be infected with bacteria and rotten roots. we can pad two bricks under the flowerpot to expose the small hole in the bottom of the pot. I'm not afraid to be caught in the rain all day!

Solution 3: turn on the fan and find a way to dry

If your flowerpot is wet for 2 or 3 days, stop watering quickly, put it in a ventilated place, and blow a fan to the flowers if necessary to speed up evaporation; if serious, take the flowers out with the soil and dry them, and then put them back in the pot when they are almost dry.

Various flower diseases

After a rain, flowers are easy to get sick, mainly on the leaves, you have to be careful in the following situations!

Black spot: every summer in the rainy season, the flowers and leaves appear black spots after the rain, spread quickly, and the flowers become the commander of light in a few days.

Solution: scatter wood shavings on basin surface and spray

Spread some wood shavings, cinders, bamboo charcoal and so on on the basin to isolate the bacteria in the soil. When the rain stops, spray carbendazim on the leaves, then don't get caught in the rain, put it on the indoor ventilated balcony and so on.

Anthrax: due to lack of light on rainy days, high humidity and insufficient ventilation, especially orchids, green apples, rich trees, tortoise-backed bamboos and other foliage flowers are more common, and there are yellow water stains on the leaves.

Solution: clean up rotten leaves and apply fungicides in time

The yellow leaves and rotten leaves in the flowerpot should be cleaned up in time, some fungicides can be mixed in the soil, and some cinder can be added to the soil. Watering must not spray foliage, it is easy to infect, just pour it into the soil. The diseased leaves are cut off directly, and the wound is sterilized with purple lotion or daconine.

Powdery mildew: the air humidity on rainy days is high, many flower friends have mushrooms in their flowerpots, white silk catkins appear on flower leaves, and rose, geranium, chrysanthemum, paulownia and clematis are prone to powdery mildew.

Solution: apply sulfur and ventilate frequently

The sulfur soap at home is rubbed into powder on the cement, and then the sulfur powder is sprinkled on the diseased leaves. Be sure to keep ventilated, whether it is balcony, windowsill or fan, ventilation is the key. Remove the serious leaves directly and apply some carbendazim or daconine or purple lotion to sterilize.

Fusarium wilt: some flowers will wither as soon as it rains, for example, clematis is so expensive that it will die before the rain. I hope it is not too late to say Huahua today.

Solution: choose the right variety and sprinkle plant ash in the rain

Clematis in the whole series is less, F series is the second, 2 series is the most, flower friends had better act according to their ability when buying. In order to avoid withering, you can sprinkle a handful of plant ash on the soil of clematis when it rains, sterilize and dehumidify.

Rain attracts worms

There are many bugs in summer, and it is more common to grow flowers. Especially when it rains, all the bugs come out. How do you deal with them?

Little flying insects: some little flying insects are bored around the flowerpot all day long, but it is because the pot soil is too wet that you find that the white insects in the soil are their cubs.

Solution: ventilation and mosquito-repellent incense

If you want to completely eliminate small flying insects, you must maintain a ventilated flower-growing environment and don't water too much, otherwise everything will be in vain. If there is no way to get to the root of the problem, you can also point mosquito incense around the flowers, or break the mosquito incense and insert it into the soil along the edge of the basin.

Scale insects: in summer, some flowers (especially succulent) are easy to grow scale insects, and the insects lie tightly on the flowers, growing more and more, and killing them one by one is not the way to do it.

Solution: alcohol insecticide

The usual medical alcohol at home (concentration 30-50%), wipe the leaves with a cotton bat, wipe both sides, if you find it troublesome, you can put a small spray can spray, be careful not to spray too hard. The time is about 6-8 o'clock in the evening, the effect is more obvious.
