After the End of Heat, the average temperature of the day dropped below 24 ℃ until before Frosts Descent. During the peak growth period of Welsh onion, one leaf could grow every 7-8 days on average. The leaf order was higher, and the larger the leaf was, the longer the leaf life. During this period, due to the rapid growth of green onion weight and the increase of water demand, it should be combined with topdressing and soil cultivation, watering once every 4-5 days, and the amount of water should be large.

Scallions cultivate soil

First, watering:

Green onion ditch to build a ridge to block water, each ditch enough water to pour evenly. If there is little drought and rain and insufficient watering water, it will affect the growth of green onions and the yield of green onions. Generally, high-yield plots need to be watered 8 times and 10 times at this stage. After Frosts Descent, the temperature dropped, and the green onion basically entered the pseudostem (green onion white) filling stage. The green onion grows slowly and the water demand is reduced, but the soil still needs to be kept moist, so that the pseudostem is grouted, the mesophyll is thick, full of glue, and the green onion is white, tender and fat. Water needs to be irrigated twice during this period to meet the needs. If lack of water, the green onion leaves are withered and soft, the onion is white and loose, the yield is reduced, and the quality becomes worse. Stop watering 7-10 days before harvest to facilitate harvest, storage and transportation.

Second, topdressing:

High yield and good quality of green onion can be obtained by topdressing in time. Top dressing of green onions should be carried out in stages. ① onion white growth initial stage: just after summer, the weather turns cool, onion plant growth speeds up, should pursue leaf fertilizer once, apply 1000 to 1500kg mature farm fertilizer, 100kg plant ash, 15kg calcium superphosphate per mu, and then watering once, can promote the growth of green onion, leaf increase and growth; ② onion white growth peak period: green onion yield forms the key period, onion plant grows tall rapidly, onion white thickens, needs a lot of water and nutrients. Chase fertilizer and chase it in 2 to 3 times, with equal emphasis on nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. For the first time, it can be applied with rotten farm manure, 4000kg Kang soil and 15-20kg potassium sulfate, which can be applied on both sides of the green onion line, and the soil and water can be cultivated and watered after intertillage. The last two times of topdressing can be applied 15 kilograms of ammonium sulfate or urea between rows and watered after shallow and medium ploughing to meet the needs of the rapid growth of green onions.

Third, cultivate the soil:

Soil cultivation can soften leaf sheath, prevent lodging, and improve the yield and quality of onion. Green onion can soften the pseudostem, prolong the length of green onion and improve the quality of green onion by strengthening the supply of fertilizer and water at the same time. Generally speaking, the higher the soil is, the longer the onion is white, and the white tissue is whiter and richer. When scallions enter the vigorous growth period, with the leaf sheath lengthening, timely through inter-row ploughing, step-by-step cultivation of soil, so that the original ridge back into a ditch, onion ditch back. The height of each cultivation is 3-4 cm according to the height of the pseudostem. The soil is cultivated to the boundary between the leaf sheath and the leaf body of Welsh onion, that is, only the leaf sheath is buried, not the leaf body, so as not to cause the leaf to rot. From the Beginning of Autumn to harvest, the soil was cultivated 3 times and 4 times.

When cultivating the soil, we should also pay attention to: first, the width of the soil should not exceed 1 stroke 3 of the row width and 1 stroke 2 of the trench depth, so as to avoid root injury affecting the root development of Welsh onion. Second, after cultivating the soil, it is necessary to pat the soil on the shoulders of green onion ridges to prevent the collapse caused by rain flushing or watering.
