Succulent feed is palatable and can increase milk yield of dairy cows.
Feeding succulent feed to cows can increase milk yield. Juicy materials include tuber root, tuber feed, melon and fruit feed. The water content of these feeds is as high as 70-90%, the dry feed contains a lot of sugar and starch, the cellulose content is less than 10%, and the mineral quality is reasonable. This kind of feed has good palatability, and its digestibility is as high as 80% Murray 90%. It is an important feed to increase milk yield of dairy cows.
Cow
Sugar beet: dried beet contains sugar 5% MUE 6%, protein 1% MUE 2%, crude fiber 1.7%, and nitrogen-free extract about 9%. When feeding, it should be washed and chopped first. Each cow can be fed 30-40 kg of sugar beet dry matter every day. Beet feed should not be placed for too long, so as to avoid nitrate poisoning in dairy cows.
Beet residue: fresh beet residue, containing 90% water, 0.9% crude protein, 0.1% crude fat, 2.6% crude fiber, 3.5% nitrogen-free extract, but no carotene and vitamin D. Feeding beet dregs can provide cows with the necessary fillers. Beet dregs can be fed 3-5 kg per cow per day.
Potato: potato dry matter 22%, crude protein 1.6%, crude fat 0.1%, crude fiber 0.7%, nitrogen-free extract 18.7%. 3.5-4 kg potato is equivalent to 1 kg cereal, and about 80% of potato dry matter is starch, which is easy to digest, but lacks methionine, calcium, phosphorus and carotene, which is one of the main diets for dairy cows. Each cow is fed 20-26 kg of potatoes daily with protein, minerals and vitamin supplements.
Carrots: carrots contain 12% dry matter, mostly soluble sugars, including crude protein 1.1%, crude fat 0.3%, crude fiber 1.2%, nitrogen-free extract 8.4%. It is a high-quality succulent feed for male, dairy and young animals. When feeding, wash and cut fine first, feed carrots 20-25 kg per cow and breeder bull 5-7 kg per day. When storing, it is best to bury it with wet sand to prevent carrots from rotting and nutrients wasting.
