Summer high temperature, strong light, Rain Water foot, is the exuberant period of flower growth. How to make the flowers at the right temperature, not only can accept the sun, but also shade; there is sufficient water, but not by waterlogging, thin fertilizer, ventilation and light, these are the key to the maintenance of potted flowers in summer. According to the different ecological conditions and variety characteristics, potted flowers should be raised in summer according to local conditions, so that the potted plants can flourish and flourish.

Light. Rose, peony, sweet-scented osmanthus, jasmine, poinsettia and pomegranate should be placed in places with strong and long sunshine, while chrysanthemums, dahlias, Magnolia, Fusang and inverted golden bells should be placed in a semi-shaded place with 50% shade. And orchids, camellia, rhododendron, gardenia, begonia, Michelia, orchid, calla, asparagus, evergreen, hanging orchid, hairpin and so on are afraid of high temperature and sunlight, which can be placed in a place with a shade degree of 80% and a little sunlight or scattered light.

Temperature. The growth of flowers is generally inhibited when the temperature is more than 30 ℃. For example, the optimum temperature of begonia is 16-21 ℃, when it is exceeded, the stems and leaves will wither, and even the tubers will rot; cyclamen likes to be cool, and the optimum temperature is 15-20 ℃. Too hot will cause fallen leaves to dormancy and delay flowering, so it must be placed in a cool place.

Humidity. In summer, general flowers require high humidity and high water demand because of their high transpiration intensity, but plant size, physiological characteristics and climate change all affect the degree of water demand. Flowers that are dormant or semi-dormant in summer, such as tulips, hanging golden bells, cyclamen, geraniums, crabapple, daffodils, etc., should be watered less; and for some flowers that like shade and damp, such as orchids, gentleman orchids, camellia and calla lilies, in addition to watering, they can also spray water on branches and leaves and sprinkle water on the ground to form a humid microclimate. Generally speaking, herbs need more water than woody plants; large leaves, soft leaves, smooth and hairless leaves need more water, while leathery wax layer leaves of leaflets need less water; they need more water for exuberant growth in summer and less for dormancy or semi-dormancy. Watering must not be at noon, the water temperature must be close to the soil temperature. While preventing drought, we must pay attention to preventing waterlogging. Although Rain Water is conducive to the growth of flowers, too much flooding will cause rotting roots.

Fertilize. Summer is a prosperous period for flower growth, so we must pay attention to "applying thin fertilizer frequently". It is appropriate to apply fertilizer in the evening, loosen the soil before application, and then water it in the next morning. Do not apply fertilizer under the scorching sun at noon or on rainy days and when the basin soil is too wet. Do not apply raw fertilizer and do not splash the stems and leaves. The application of liquid fertilizer such as jasmine can be slightly thicker, and potted flowers with poor dormancy or poor root system and poor growth should not be fertilized; in general, the application of nitrogen fertilizer should not be excessive, but can be used with a mixture of rice washing water, rotten eggs and animals. to supplement the deficiency of phosphorus and potash fertilizer.

Pruning and plastic surgery. Flowers are easy to grow in summer. In the process of growth, it is appropriate to trim and remove diseased branches and too many branches, buds and fruits in time, leaving only one fruit in one fruiting branch, which can make the fruit rich and improve the ornamental value. Proper pruning and shaping is conducive to the formation of new buds and leaves, the accumulation of plant nutrients, ventilation and light, and can reduce the breeding of diseases and insect pests. It is also necessary to pick the heart at the right time, control the length of branches, promote branches and increase buds.

Maintenance of summer dormant flowers. Such as Magnolia, tulips, geraniums, daffodils, inverted golden bells, freesia, calla lilies, cyclamen, etc. they are summer dormant flowers with weak growth activity, low metabolism and low energy consumption during the dormancy period, mainly due to the inhibition of flower growth caused by high temperature above 30 ℃. The measures that should be taken are: under the shade shed, stop using quick-acting fertilizer, less watering or no watering, to prevent the sun or rain. Some bulb flowers, such as cyclamen, daffodils and freesia, can wither on the ground. After entering summer dormancy, the bulbs are dug up and placed in a ventilated, dry and cool place without direct sunlight and stored with slightly wet coarse sand.
