In recent years, the Taiwan Plant Factory Industry Development Association has continuously provided member assistance and consulting services to maintain its competitiveness in the deteriorating industry and environment.

Lin Yi-Chiao, deputy secretary general of the Association, said that especially during this year's Taiwan International Agriculture week, it is the most desirable thing for the association to see the electronics industry and the agricultural industry make concerted efforts to solve the problem.

At present, the fashionable "small-scale peasant agriculture" or "cultural youth agriculture" in Taiwan is of low sustainability and lack of long-term economic value, which is of little practical help to Taiwan, where climate change is gradually deteriorating and typhoons are frequent. Deputy Secretary-General Lin pointed out that plant factories can assist traditional agricultural industries in such an atmosphere. Plant factories combine technology-factory equipment, sensors, LED light sources, and now the most rammed Internet of things or artificial intelligence, with the wisdom of farmers to solve the current situation in agriculture.

The under-Secretary-General mentioned that plant factories can be used in overpopulated, urbanized and aging societies, such as in Taiwan, where agricultural land is sharply reduced due to industrial pollution, coupled with problems such as the aging of the agricultural population; or, for example, in areas of the United States that are dry due to climate change.

In addition, the lack of an enlightened attitude can also hinder the development of plant factories, and the under-Secretary-General also revealed that he was frustrated by rumors that "farmers will be replaced by plant factories sooner or later." She believes that this is not the case. on the contrary, "the scientific and technological development of plant factories can make up for the shortcomings of traditional agriculture and complement each other rather than replace them."

On the other hand, factories should get rid of the idea of providing only whole-field output equipment, and try their best to use plant factories with scientific and technological capabilities to solve the difficulties facing agriculture, the under-Secretary-General further explained.

She also estimates that Singapore may catch up with Taiwan's technology within three to five years because the Singaporean government has a very positive attitude towards the development of plant factory technology. However, the outlook is not so bleak. She believes that recently, large Taiwanese companies have also begun to invest in plant factories, which means that these entrepreneurs see the next industrial opportunity that may lead to coquettish in the next decade, and with the demand for plant factories around the world, we will focus on building this industry in Asia, Europe and the United States. In addition, the Taiwan Plant Factory Industry Development Association will also participate in the "2018 Taiwan International Agricultural week" held at the Kaohsiung Exhibition Hall in November to exchange views with professionals at home and abroad.
