Ling Yongjian, inspector general of the Consumer Culture and Education Foundation, pointed out that last year, he was commissioned by consumers to test traditional Chinese medicine of unknown source. of the 57 samples tested for heavy metals, two exceeded the standards. the contents of heavy metal mercury were 6400ppm and 2500ppm, respectively, which exceeded the normal standard 0.5ppm.

However, in legal channels, such as Chinese medicine hospitals, Chinese medicine clinics, pharmacies, Chinese medicine shops, and so on, the Chinese medicines obtained are up to standard. 23 samples with or without western medicine were not detected, and 40 samples with heavy metals were also in line with the standard. Hu Fengbin, president of the consumer report magazine, said, "the traditional Chinese medicine that people get from domestic traditional Chinese medicine hospitals is all in line with the regulations, and there is no problem."

The unqualified rate of traditional Chinese medicine from unknown sources is 20%.

The Consumer Culture and Education Foundation held a press conference on the 13th on the detection of western medicine and heavy metal mercury in traditional Chinese medicine of unknown origin, announcing the test results of traditional Chinese medicine of unknown source. of the 57 samples tested for heavy metals, two exceeded the standard; of the 30 samples tested for western medicine, 6 were found to contain western medicine.

Ling Yongjian pointed out that every year, the Consumer Foundation is commissioned by consumers to test traditional Chinese medicine, which is divided into channels obtained by qualified Chinese medicine hospitals and channels of unknown sources to test whether heavy metals exceed the standard and whether they contain western medicine ingredients. Pipelines of unknown sources include underground radio stations, night markets, foreign countries, relatives and friends, and so on.
