Goat pox includes sheep pox and goat pox. Goat pox affects goats, and goats and sheep are not infectious to each other. Goat pox virus is the pathogen of goat pox, and the main source of infection is diseased sheep. It invades the body through respiratory tract infection or through injured skin or mucosa. Feed management personnel, contaminated feed, mat grass, utensils, fur products, in vitro parasites are all transmission media. Goat pox is an acute, febrile and contagious disease, which often occurs on hairless or hairless skin and mucous membranes.

Goat

The incubation period of the disease is 6-8 days. The body temperature of the goat rose to 41-42 ℃, and there was catarrhal purulent inflammation in the nasal cavity and conjunctiva. Dark red spots occur in the hairless or hairless skin such as the face, breast, vulva and the inside of the limbs, and quickly become papules. The rash mass gradually increases, showing round, oval and irregular protuberances. Thin sheep, especially lambs, the whole body acne is serious, involving internal organs, obvious reaction, secondary to severe pneumonia, pregnant sheep miscarriage or stillbirth, the fatality rate is very high. Therefore, attention should be paid to the prevention and treatment of goat pox.

1. Vaccination:

Vaccination is made regularly every year. All healthy goats were vaccinated with attenuated goat pox vaccine, 0.5 ml per goat, subcaudal or medial thigh intradermal injection, and protective antibodies were produced about 1 week after injection.

2. Feeding and management:

Strengthen the feeding and management and do a good job of hygiene in the circle. Strengthen nursing care for sick sheep, pay attention to hygiene, give soft, tender and digestible feed, the enclosure should be warm but also ventilated, it is best to graze when it is sunny, let sick sheep bask in the sun, especially in the eruption period, to strengthen heat preservation, cover with grass, supply warm water.

Third, timely treatment:

For sick sheep pimples, apply iodine tincture or purple potion for symptomatic treatment; after blisters or pustules are ruptured, wash with 3% carbolic acid, and then apply medicine; lesions on the mucosa, first wash with 0.1% potassium permanganate, and then apply iodine glycerin or purple lotion.

Fourth, disinfect and kill the source:

Sheep house, sheep farm environment, utensils and drinking water should be disinfected regularly to kill pathogenic microorganisms. The sick goats should be isolated and treated in time. The dead goat carcass should be buried deeply, and the sheep pens and utensils should be disinfected.

(5) careful introduction:

Goat pox is an acute contagious disease, prevention is more important than cure. Introduction from epidemic areas is strictly prohibited. Introduction from non-epidemic areas should also understand the local epidemic situation, the immunity of goats, and obtain quarantine certificates from animal epidemic prevention departments in the place of origin. After landing, they were isolated and observed for about 20 days, and no disease was confirmed and regrouped. If suspected cases of goat pox are found, they should be reported to the local animal husbandry and veterinary department in time to standardize treatment and reduce losses.
