Anal pecking is one of the common hobbies of laying hens. Once there is the phenomenon of pecking anus in the flock, they imitate each other, which is easy to cause mass occurrence and heavy losses. Anal pecking is addictive and it is very difficult to cure. Prevention should be given priority to. In the process of feeding, the feeding and management of laying hens should be done well to put an end to the phenomenon of anal pecking.

Laying hens

First, the cause of anal pecking:

⑴ kept beak or beak broken lightly, but failed to break beak again in time. Long-term use of low-grade feed by ⑵ leads to nutritional imbalance or deficiency of laying hens. ⑶ was induced by unreasonable light intensity and high intensity. ⑷ chicken coop is simple, natural light shines directly into the chicken coop, inducing anus pecking. The phenomenon of anal pecking of laying hens in asbestos shed or semi-open chicken raising area on the upper part of the building varies with the season. In spring, the natural light intensity is large and the illumination time is long, such as the direct sunlight in the chicken coop, which induces anus pecking. In late autumn and early winter, the sun still shines directly on the chicken coop, which can easily cause anus pecking. ⑸ heat stress, a simple chicken coop made of asbestos tiles, poor thermal insulation, scorching sun in summer, and high temperature in the chicken coop lead to anus pecking. The water supply of ⑹ is cut off or insufficient in summer. ⑺ causes salpingitis, birth canal swelling, resulting in dystocia, which makes the cloaca of laying hens turn out for too long, and other laying hens peck when they see the cloacal cavity with high congestion.

Preventive measures for anal pecking

⑴ cut off the beak in time and reasonably. At the age of 6-9 days, the beak was cut off again at the age of 70 days. If the beak of individual chickens is too long, it can be broken again. ⑵ chooses the layer feed produced by the feed factory with high popularity and advanced testing equipment. ⑶ establishes a scientific and reasonable lighting system. ⑷ pays attention to the influence of natural light according to the opening degree of the chicken house and deals with it in time. The open chicken coop and the upstairs chicken coop can be blocked by a reflective white woven bag on the open side of the chicken coop, so that the bright light can not shine directly on the chicken coop. ⑸ asbestos roof chicken coop, straw or wheat bran can be put on the roof to insulate. When the temperature in the house is too high, in addition to ventilation, cold water can be sprayed into the henhouse, and layers can be given antipyretic drugs to reduce high temperature stress. ⑹ high temperature season, to ensure long-term water, continuous water. ⑺ timely prevention and treatment of diseases, reduce salpingitis.

3. Treatment measures:

⑴ observed the flocks regularly and picked out the layers pecked by anus and pecked in time. For the picked layers, the heavy ones are eliminated, and the light ones are coated with iodine, preferably purple solution, and oral oxytetracycline tablets at the same time; the layers pecking at the anus are fed alone, and if the beak is long, the beak should be forcibly cut off. ⑵ will paint the hairless area outside the anus purple or black as soon as possible for the chickens in the same cage and on both sides of the cage, so that the chickens do not want to peck the anus. ⑶ was treated with drugs. 2-3% gypsum was added to the layer feed for 14 days. The salt content of the feed can also be increased by 1-2% for 2 days, but sufficient drinking water should be provided to prevent salt poisoning of laying hens.
