Caged meat ducks speed up the fattening process, but caged laying ducks need to prevent three diseases.

Caged meat duck is a new and efficient method of raising duck after stocking and captivity. Meat duck cages raise current high-quality meat ducks such as Beijing duck, Cherry Valley duck and Gannan Wanzi duck in duck cages during the period from the shell of the ducklings to the time when they are put on the market. To raise meat ducks in cages, three diseases should be prevented:

Prevention of paralysis: meat ducks are most likely to lack calcium and phosphorus in captivity, resulting in unstable standing and even paralysis to death. To prevent the disease, 3% calcium powder or 5% gypsum powder can be added to duck feed, and snails or small sand grains can be added at the same time. If meat ducks are infected and paralyzed, 0.1% vitamin D should be added to their feed immediately for 10 days.

Prevention of vitamin deficiency: a single type of feed will lead to vitamin deficiency in meat ducks, which should be fed with green material and earthworms, snails, frogs, etc., while adding 0.2-0.3% (when the symptoms are obvious, add 1%) compound multivitamin to duck feed.

Strict prevention of duck plague: 1Mei 5-day-old ducklings use 0.02% potassium permanganate solution as drinking water, and compound dimethicillin and oxytetracycline can be added to their feed. Every morning, clean the plastic sheet at the bottom of the cage and connect the dung board, outside the duck house, every 7 days, disinfect with fresh lime water. Once the meat duck is sick, it should be treated immediately and reared in isolation. Some people use rabbit blood wheat grain to treat duck plague, the effect is good, might as well give it a try. The method is to take an appropriate amount of barley, stir-fry it in an iron pot, put it in a wooden bucket or tile jar, kill rabbits, take blood and mix well with hot wheat grains, and feed the meat ducks infected with duck plague. Those who are too sick to eat can be fed with 60 grains manually.
