1. Pruning:

For normal-bearing bayberry trees without shaping, we should first "open a small skylight", that is, delete the upper upright 1-2 big branches, and then "internal and external small adjustment", that is, delete diseased branches, insect branches, withered branches, residual branches, weak branches, sparsely delete dense branches, erect branches and overlapping branches in the crown, and cut off non-flowering branches, late autumn shoots, cross branches of the two trees, and lower mop branches. In principle, the upper branches of the crown "go strong and stay weak" and the lower branches "go weak and stay strong".

For normal fruiting bayberry trees that have been shaped, cut off disease and insect branches, withered branches, residual branches, weak branches, cross branches, dense branches, overlapping branches, mop branches, etc., and retain the rest of the branches and leaves as far as possible to ensure that the tree produces enough photosynthate.

Young bayberry trees should be reshaped and pruned from the third year. At the place about 40cm from the ground, the suitable main branches in three directions are left to promote the secondary main branches, which expand outward year by year. The crowded internal branches and the lower branches should be cut off in time, and the outer oblique branches should be kept or promoted by pulling and supporting branches, so as to increase the external effective photosynthetic area and make the tree well ventilated and transparent.

The appropriate winter repair time for bayberry trees is December every year. After plastic surgery and pruning, take the fallen branches and leaves outside the garden in time to clean up, especially diseases, insects and residual branches.

2. Fertilization:

For each adult bayberry tree with normal fruit, 2-3 kg of vegetable cake fertilizer, 25-30 kg of plant ash and 50-100 g of borax should be applied every winter. Myrica rubra should be fertilized in spring and winter, so that the tree can slowly absorb nutrients, enhance the safety of overwintering, and promote the spring shoot to sprout ahead of time in the following year.

Third, add guest land:

Adding guest soil under the bayberry canopy in winter can increase the surface temperature and humidity and enhance the root absorption. The guest soil had better be the yellow soil under the wolf dustpan. Before adding guest soil, clean up the fallen branches and leaves under the canopy, or spray stone and sulfur mixture.

After pruning, bayberry orchards should be cleaned in time to prevent diseases and insect pests in the following year, especially brown spot, cancer, red clothing disease, shell insects and so on. Qingyuan medicine can choose 3-5 Baume degree stone sulfur mixture. When spraying, both the positive and negative sides of the trunk and leaves should be sprayed, the number of spraying depends on the degree of occurrence of diseases and insect pests, generally 1-3 times.

The stone-sulfur mixture can be prepared with 2 parts of sulfur powder, 1 part of quicklime and 10 parts of water. First boil the water, add the sulfur paste made from warm water, stir and continue to heat, then gradually add block quicklime, continue to stir, cook for about 40-50 minutes, cease fire when the liquid changes from yellow to soy sauce (dark brown red), filter out the dregs, and form the original solution. In the process of boiling, keep heating water, replenish evaporated water, and keep the original amount of water. In order to ensure the quality of the liquid, lime is used with block, white, non-absorbent quicklime; fine sulfur powder; when boiling, first put sulfur, then put lime. The original liquid can not be stored in iron, copper, aluminum and other metal containers, it is best to use pottery, and add a layer of oil (engine oil, diesel oil, kerosene) on the liquid surface to isolate the air.
