Winter, especially in the north, the climate is cold, is the off-season of broiler production. However, if raised and managed properly, broilers can be raised well in winter and high benefits can be obtained.

Broiler

(1) prevent cold and keep warm. Heat preservation is the key to raising broilers in winter. before the cold comes, do a good job in the maintenance of the chicken house, close the doors and windows, plug the cracks in the house, add a thermal insulation curtain to the doors and windows, increase the thickness of the cushion, and adopt heating, infrared, flue, fire wall, stove and so on according to the conditions. Pay attention to the constant temperature and avoid excessive temperature difference between day and night.

(2) ventilation in the house. Broilers have high feeding density and rapid growth and development. with the increase of body weight, the respiratory volume and excretion of broilers also increase. Without proper ventilation, not only the humidity in the house is high, but also the air in the house is dirty and the concentration of ammonia is too high. If the stove is installed in the house, the content of harmful gases such as carbon monoxide will be increased, which is disadvantageous to the growth and development of broilers, and even cause poisoning.

(3) adjust the composition of diet. The low temperature in winter and the exuberant metabolism of chickens can appropriately increase the energy level in the diet. According to the data, adding 2% animal and vegetable fat to the diet of broilers in winter has a good effect on weight gain.

(4) careful management. In winter, broilers can be raised by free feeding and free drinking, and the feeding times should be increased appropriately. Each broiler should have a 3~5cm slot with continuous light for 23 hours a day, darkness for 1 hour, and light intensity of 1 ~ 2 watts / m ~ 2. Due to the high humidity and dirty air in the house, broilers are easy to suffer from coccidiosis and respiratory diseases, which should be prevented.
