Excessive drinking after dehydration of goslings will lead to a sudden increase of water in the body and loss of balance, resulting in the accumulation of a large amount of water in the tissue, the sudden decrease of the concentration of plasma sodium and chlorine, and the entry of water into the cells, causing cell edema, especially brain cell edema, causing nerve dysfunction or increased brain pressure, resulting in the death of goslings. The main clinical manifestations are neurological symptoms.

Gosling

1. Clinical symptoms:

The main manifestations are as follows: goose mouth flow mucus, open mouth and shake head, unstable gait, some turn in a circle, some sit in a dog position, some head repeatedly back, feet random row, drainage-like feces, quickly fell to the ground and died.

2. Measures for diagnosis and treatment:

Due to negligent management, the goslings stopped water for a long time, resulting in water poisoning. (1) the geese immediately stop drinking fresh water, add 0.9% salt to the Gosling's drinking water, and strictly control the amount of water Gosling drinks, so as to achieve a small amount at a time, interrupted supply, and do not allow Goslings to drink too much. (2) for severely diseased geese, 0.5 ml of sodium coffee was injected intramuscularly and given proper amount of compound vitamin B.

III. Summary

1. All the physiological activities of geese are inseparable from water, which maintains the life, growth and production of geese; it is an important substance for geese to transport nutrients, excrete waste, regulate body temperature, osmotic pressure and balance acidity and alkalinity. The water content of geese varies at different stages of growth and development, such as about 70% in goslings and about 50% in adult geese. It is determined that geese need 3.7ml of water to eat 1 gram of feed. When the temperature is 12-16 ℃, geese need an average of 1 liter of water per day.

2. Dehydration can lead to digestive and absorption disorder, loss of appetite, lack of blood volume, respiratory dysfunction, accumulation of nitrogen-containing substances and self-poisoning in goslings. The loss of 10% of water in geese can lead to metabolic disorders, and the loss of more than 20% is life-threatening.

3. Gosling drank too much after dehydration, resulting in neurological dysfunction or increased brain pressure, resulting in water poisoning, showing neurological symptoms. Therefore, Gosling water poisoning focuses on prevention, once it occurs, a small amount of isoosmotic water is fed many times until the symptoms are relieved.
