The supplementary feeding of mutton sheep refers to the technique of setting up a supplementary feeding fence for lambs in the concentrated area of ewe activities. Its purpose is to promote the growth of lambs, reduce the size difference between single lambs, double lambs and lambs born later, lay a foundation for improving fattening effect, especially shortening fattening period, and reduce the frequency of asking for milk from ewes at the same time. Maintain the peak period of ewe lactation for a long time.

Supplementary feeding of lambs

First, the lambs need to be fed in separate columns: pre-weaned lambs at the age of 2 months, ewes born in two years, lambs born in winter, purebred ewes, multiple ewes, and lambs born after lambing.

Second, the time of supplementary feeding: if the flock is large, the lamb begins at the age of 15-21 days. If the lambing period is long and the lamb is not concentrated, it can be carried out in batches according to the lamb size. If the lamb is found to have licking feed, it can be advanced to 10-day-old lamb at the earliest.

Third, lamb supplementary feeding ingredients: coarse fodder is mainly alfalfa hay or high-quality green hay, and lambs are allowed to eat freely with grass rack or hanging handle; fine fodder includes corn, bean cake, wheat bran and so on. Large crushed corn is suitable for lambs before 1 month old, and whole grains are better after that. The feeding amount of roughage and concentrate should be adjusted according to the season. For example, before the grass germinates, the hay is mainly alfalfa and the mixed concentrate feed is corn, while the late spring lamb is fed without hay in the heyday of green grass, but in addition to corn, an appropriate amount of bean cake should be added to the mixed concentrate feed to keep the dietary protein at least 15%. Two common feed formulations are introduced for reference.

1. No feed processing conditions: corn 60%, oats or barley 20%, wheat bran 10%, bean cake 10%. Add 0.4 grams of chlortetracycline or oxytetracycline to every 10 kg mixture, a small amount of bone powder, mix well.

two。 There are feed processing conditions: corn 20%, wheat bran 10%, oats or barley 20%, bean cake 10%, bone meal 10%, molasses 30%. Add 0.4 grams of chlortetracycline or oxytetracycline every 10 kilograms of concentrate. The above raw materials were mixed in proportion to make granules with a diameter of 0.4-0.6cm.

4. Management of supplementary feeding in separate hurdles:

1. The number of stalls is appropriate. The partition area is calculated on the basis of 0.15 square meters per lamb; the entrance and exit is about 20 cm wide and 40 cm high, so it is appropriate not to squeeze the lamb. The partition should be cleaned and disinfected.

two。 Key points of feeding technology. When starting supplementary feeding, put corn and bean cake in the feed trough during the day, the amount is small but fine. Every day, no matter whether you eat it or not, it's all for new ingredients. After the lamb learns, feed according to the daily food intake every day. The general daily food intake is 40-50 grams per animal at first and 300-350 grams in the later stage, and the mixture is consumed 8-10 kilograms during the whole period. When feeding, it is better to release the material once a day and eat the lamb within half an hour. The feeding is arranged in the morning or evening, but with better light. During feeding, if it is found that the lamb does not adapt to the feed, the type of feed can be changed.
