Tomato flower and fruit drop

1. Light reasons: The suitable light hours for normal tomato growth are 12-16 hours, and the light intensity is 4- 70,000 LX (lux). In winter and spring, the light intensity and hours are insufficient, and there are too many rainy days in winter and spring in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. In order to keep warm, the greenhouse cover is uncovered late, covered early, or even not uncovered all day, which affects the photosynthesis of tomatoes, causing pollen malnutrition and poor pollination, causing flowers and fruits to fall.

Preventive measures: (1) increase the light transmission time as much as possible;(2) artificial light supplement, you can hang a 40W bulb every 3 meters in the shed, and supplement 1-2 hours in the morning and evening.

Second, temperature reasons: low temperature, high temperature and large changes will cause tomato flowers and fruits. Tomato flowering temperature below 13℃ or above 30℃ will cause poor pollination, resulting in flower and fruit drop.

Preventive measures: through ventilation or cover double paste and other measures to prevent the shed temperature is too high or too low, try to avoid low temperature or high temperature environment, shorten the duration of low temperature or high temperature. Note that the temperature difference in flowering should not change too much. Generally, the temperature difference between day and night should be 8-10℃.

Third, malnutrition: insufficient and uneven fertilization, resulting in tomato nutrition deficiency, especially the shortage of trace elements such as boron, magnesium, calcium, etc., easy to cause flower drop, CO2 concentration is too low, so that tomatoes are in a state of photosynthetic hunger, but also easy to cause flower drop.

Preventive measures: base fertilizer should be applied adequately and evenly, topdressing should be applied less frequently, foliar fertilizer can be applied 2-3 times in flowering period, and some trace element fertilizer should be applied. Applying CO2 fertilizer in the shed can make CO2 concentration reach 1000-1200ml/L, which can effectively reduce flower and fruit drop.

4. Improper management: If fertilizer and water are not properly managed, tomatoes are weak or overgrown, which will cause low fruit setting rate; tomato plants and flower organs are mechanically damaged, and flower and fruit dropping will also occur.

Preventive measures: during field operation, do not damage plants and flower organs; secondly, strengthen fertilizer and water management to make plants strong; also scientifically use plant growth regulators, such as excessive growth of plants, soil irrigation chlormequat 250mg/L, 100-200ml per plant, effective within a week; in order to improve fruit setting rate, apply 10-20mg/L 2,4-D to flower stems during flowering.

V. Diseases and pests: When diseases and pests occur on tomato plants, especially at flowering, physiological functions will be out of balance and flowers and fruits will fall.

Preventive measures: timely pest management. Try to avoid spraying in full bloom, reduce the use of water agents, and use more smoke agents and dust agents to avoid increasing the relative humidity of the air in the shed and aggravating flower and fruit drop. The concentration should be moderate.
