The winter is cold and the climate is bad. If the newborn rabbits born in this period are not managed properly, it is easy to cause death, and the deadline mortality rate is the highest. In production, the causes should be found out and corresponding measures should be taken to ensure that the rabbits born in winter are all alive and strong.

Young rabbit

1. Can't eat colostrum. Within 10 hours after birth, the breast-feeding condition of the mother rabbit should be checked. If the nipple of the mother rabbit is white, it indicates that the baby rabbit has not eaten milk; if the nipple has red spots, it indicates that the baby rabbit has eaten milk. If you find that the baby rabbit has not eaten colostrum, the mother rabbit should be breast-fed in time. When checking the baby rabbit, if the baby rabbit sleeps peacefully, the abdomen is round and swollen, the skin color is ruddy and the coat is bright, indicating that it has eaten enough; on the contrary, if it is not full, the mother rabbit should be breast-fed in time.

2. Suffer frost injury. If the female rabbit does not pluck and does not prepare the nest before delivery, the baby rabbit will be frozen to death. Therefore, a week before the birth of the female rabbit, prepare a nest box with soft, dry and uncontaminated straw. After giving birth, if the female rabbit still does not pull the feather, it can be used to pull the lower part of the belly hair of the female rabbit and cover the baby rabbit so as not to die of cold.

3. Lack of nutrition. The number of offspring of female rabbits is uneven, and prolific female rabbits tend to die of failure due to lack of breast milk and lack of nutrition. Therefore, in order to improve the survival rate of young rabbits, it is necessary to adjust the foster care of female rabbits with a large number of babies. According to the lactation ability of female rabbits, the young rabbits with delivery time difference of no more than 1 Mel for 2 days were adjusted. In foster care, the baby rabbits are first taken out of the original nest box and divided into nests according to their body shape and physique, then a few drops of adoptive mother's milk or urine are smeared on the baby rabbits and placed in the nest box to mix with the rabbits born to the adoptive mother to make them come into contact with each other and mix the smell. At the same time, attention should be paid to the lactation of female rabbits to prevent them from biting or killing foster rabbits.

4. Hanging milk. Due to the lack of milk of the female rabbit, the underfed baby rabbits hold on to the nipples for a long time, and when the female rabbits leave the nest, they will bring out the young rabbits who are nursing, or when the female rabbits are harassed during lactation, they suddenly leave the nest and take the baby rabbits out of the nest and freeze to death or trample to death. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen inspection and find out that the baby rabbits falling out of the nest should be sent back in time and find out the cause. If it is caused by the shortage of breast milk, the diet of female rabbits should be adjusted and fed with concentrate and green succulent feed. At the same time, management should be strengthened to keep the environment quiet. Baby rabbits frozen after hanging their breasts out of the nest should be put into human arms immediately to keep warm, or put into 40 ℃ warm water to expose their mouths and noses and give first aid.

5. Suffering from xanthuria. Lactating rabbits are prone to xanthuria if they eat the milk of female rabbits with mastitis. The key to prevent the disease is to prevent mastitis in female rabbits. if it is found that female rabbits suffer from mastitis, they should be isolated and treated immediately, stop breastfeeding, and be transferred to other female rabbits or artificial feeding at the same time. At the initial stage of the disease, the young rabbits were given gentamicin twice a day with 5 drops of 3murine each time for 2-3 days.

6. The female rabbit eats the baby. Female rabbits swallowing their young rabbits is a syndrome of metabolic disorder and lack of nutrition, so pregnant and lactating rabbits should be provided with feed rich in vitamins; adequate drinking water should be provided before delivery, and for female rabbits who have been addicted to swallowing young rabbits, it is appropriate to separate the mothers and babies immediately after giving birth and feed them regularly.
