After entering winter, the temperature drops, the temperature difference between day and night is large, and the doors and windows of pig houses are closed for heat preservation, so the air quality is poor and it is easy to induce respiratory diseases in pigs. Pig-intensive areas and large-scale pig farms should be paid more attention because of the high feeding density, which is the worst-hit area of pig respiratory diseases.

Symptoms of respiratory disease pigs: elevated body temperature, dyspnea, cough or wheezing, red or purple spots (patches) in mouth, neck, chest and abdomen, limbs, ears, visual mucosa, loss of appetite or abstinence.

Prevention and control measures:

Get immunized. According to the epidemic situation of pig disease in the local farm, each farmer should formulate a targeted immunization plan, vaccinate in time, sample and detect immune antibodies in time, and monitor the immune effect.

Appropriate drug prophylaxis. Pigs seriously threatened by respiratory diseases should be prevented regularly with sensitive drugs such as amoxicillin, doxycycline, tamicin, lincomycin and enrofloxacin, and the dose and course of treatment should be strictly controlled. Do not abuse drugs. 0.5-1 ml of long-acting oxytetracycline can also be injected into piglets on the 3rd, 7th and 14th day after birth.

Improve the management mode. Adhere to self-breeding, reduce the number of introduction, in order to reduce foreign pathogens. The delivery room and nursery should be all in and out. After each batch is transferred out, the empty column will be cleaned, disinfected and left vacant for a few days, and then transferred to the new pig herd.

Improve air quality. It is necessary to keep warm, reduce the temperature difference between day and night, and let the piggery ventilated and convective, keep the air fresh and reduce the concentration of harmful gases such as ammonia.

Do a good job in sanitary disinfection. Select high-efficiency compound disinfection drugs, disinfection should be meticulous, thorough and effective. Pigs should have effective isolation facilities and protective measures from the outside world.

Strengthen feeding and management. Try to reduce the stimulation of pig herds by stress factors such as fencing, herding, thirst, hunger, transportation, crowding and so on. Eliminate sick, weak and disabled pigs in time and reduce feeding density. For sick pigs, it is necessary to detect and treat them early.
