The development of tomato needs to absorb a variety of nutrients, when the lack of certain elements, the external morphology of tomato will show the corresponding symptoms of nutrient deficiency, affecting the quality of tomato. The following is a brief introduction to the main symptoms and remedies of tomato deficiency.

Tomato element deficiency

Nitrogen deficiency: the growth is slow, the old leaves are yellow-green in the early stage, and the whole plant is light green in the later stage, and the leaves are small and erect. The veins of leaves change from yellow-green to dark purple. The stalk hardens and the tomato becomes smaller. Remedy: mix ammonium bicarbonate or urea with 10: 15 times liquid mature organic fertilizer, apply to both sides of tomato plant, cover soil and water, or spray 0.2% ammonium bicarbonate solution on leaves.

Phosphorus deficiency: early purple-red leaves, brown spots on the leaves, stiff leaves, black and brown leaf tips withered. The veins of the leaves gradually turn purple. The stem is slender and rich in fiber. As a result, it was delayed. Remedy: adequate phosphate fertilizer is applied at the seedling stage and planting stage, or 0.2% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution is sprayed on the leaves.

Potassium deficiency: at the initial stage, there are big spots on the tip of black and brown needles at the leaf edge, and there are also in the back stem, the leaf margin is curled, the root system is dysplastic, and the tomato is easy to fall off or deformed. Remedial method: on the basis of applying more organic fertilizer and sufficient potassium fertilizer, potassium sulfate can be applied on both sides of tomato plant and covered with soil. 0.2% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution or 1% plant ash leaching solution can also be sprayed on the leaves.

Calcium deficiency: the plant is thin and wilting, the edge of the heart leaf is yellow and wrinkled, in serious cases, the heart leaf dies, the middle leaf of tomato forms black-brown spot, the leaves of the whole plant are rolled up, the root system is underdeveloped, and it is easy to cause navel rot and hollow fruit. Supplementary teaching method: apply appropriate amount of right ash, or during the growing period of tomato or when calcium deficiency is found, 0.3% 0.5% calcium chloride aqueous solution is sprayed on the leaf, once every 3-4 days, for a total of 2-3 times.

Magnesium deficiency: the lower old leaves lose chlorosis, then expand to the upper leaves, forming yellow variegated leaves. The serious leaf margin curled up, necrotic spots appeared between the leaf veins, the leaves dried up, and finally the whole plant turned yellow. Remedy: apply sufficient mature organic fertilizer, increase magnesium fertilizer, or spray 1%-3% magnesium sulfate solution on the leaves during the growing period of tomato or when magnesium deficiency is found.

Sulfur deficiency: the leaves are light green and curl upward, showing light green or yellowish green. The posterior heart leaves die or bear little fruit. Remedy: increase the application of sulfur fertilizers such as ammonium sulfate.

Boron deficiency: green or orange-red leaves. The growing point was dark, and when it was severe, the growing point withered and died. The stem and petiole are fragile and easy to make the leaves fall off. The root system is stunted and turns brown. It is easy to produce abnormal fruit with brown spots on the pericarp. Remedy: when boron deficiency is found, 0.1%-0.2% borax aqueous solution is sprayed on the leaf, once every 5-7 days, for 2-3 times.

Manganese deficiency: the middle leaf or old leaf is light green, the later young leaf is green, the reticular pattern appears on the leaf, and the chlorosis between veins is light yellow. Remedy: when it is found that tomato plants are manganese deficient, 1% manganese sulfate solution can be sprayed on the leaves.
