Rumen accumulated food is a common disease in the process of mutton sheep breeding. Due to the accumulation of a large amount of feed in the rumen of mutton sheep, the volume increases, gastric wall dilatation and movement can cause obstacles, causing rumen dilatation, also known as rumen obstruction, commonly known as supporting death disease.

Mutton sheep

Etiology: 1. Mutton sheep eat a lot of easily expandable feed such as bean straw, cereal straw, wheat straw, etc., lack of drinking water, difficult to digest. Overeating wheat bran, bean dregs and distiller's grains can also cause. 2. Long-term house feeding, lack of exercise, sudden change of delicious feed, resulting in excessive intake, or from grazing to house feeding, eating indigestible dry feed will also occur. 3. When the feeding management and environmental hygiene conditions are poor, mutton sheep are stimulated and affected by various adverse factors, stress reaction can also be caused.

Symptoms: the abdominal circumference is enlarged, the upper part of the rumen is full, and the middle and lower part expands outward. With symptoms of abdominal pain, look back on the abdomen and kick the belly on the ground. Arched back wagging tail, standing restless, rapid onset, loss of appetite, hard palpation, rumen peristalsis of mutton sheep weakened or disappeared. Regurgitation is reduced or stopped.

Prevention and treatment: 1. Start with feeding and management. Avoid feeding a large amount of fiber dry and hard and indigestible feed, concentrate should be limited. When transferring to house feeding in winter, give adequate drinking water and supply warm water as much as possible. Don't drink a lot of water to mutton sheep after fasting. 2. Do a good job in environmental hygiene and detoxification. Sheep in captivity should keep the enclosure, ground and use hygienic. Often clean the enclosure, concentrated accumulation and fermentation of feces, urine and other dirt for about 30 days. At the same time, disinfectants (such as Yiclin Huichang disinfectant, Baidu and other high-efficiency and low-toxic drugs) are regularly used to disinfect the enclosure site to prevent the spread of the disease. 3. After the onset of the disease, the mutton sheep stopped eating for 1-2 days, drank a small amount of water many times, and massaged the rumen for 15-20 minutes each time, once every 2-3 hours. Take 100-300 grams of sodium sulfate at a time into 5% solution or 300-800 ml of paraffin oil. For severely dehydrated mutton sheep, 5% sugar saline and compound sodium chloride should be given intravenously, and 500-1500 milliliters should be selected according to the amount of dehydration.
