In cold winter, bee colonies form a sphere on the spleen of the nest around the queen bee, which is called wintering bee colony. During the winter, any disturbance to the bee colony, such as vibration of the hive, rat infestation, light stimulation, etc., will make the bees restless, lead to the dispersal of the bee colony, increase the feed consumption, accelerate the aging of the bee colony, and endanger the safety of the bee colony. Therefore, it is necessary to apply corresponding management according to different wintering methods.

How bees survive safely

Indoor overwintering advantages: one is to avoid bee poisoning and young bees in the late stage of camellia, to avoid the loss of stolen bees; the other is to avoid bees flying in sunny days without anything, increasing feed consumption; the third is to reduce the labor force of caring for bee colonies. And indoor temperature is more stable, can save feed, save bee energy. Specific measures are as follows:

Conditions in winter rooms. With houses instead, there should be front and rear windows to facilitate ventilation at night. Hang linen or black curtains and curtains to keep the room dark. Concrete floor, no pesticide stored. Rinse the floor clean and layer with sand or straw. Indoor power supply, fan can be installed.

How to get in. Bee colony inspection, and make records, draw the bee colony in the bee field placement map, so that when the bee is released, the bee colony is still placed according to the position. After dark, close the door of the nest, remove the straw curtain on the auxiliary cover, move the bee colony into the room, and open the door of the nest after the bee colony is quiet.

Interior management. Put the bee colony indoors, open the nest door, put absorbent cotton on the bottom plate of the box in front of the nest door, sprinkle clean water, and then sprinkle 2 to 4 times a day until the spleen comes out of the shell. When the temperature rises above 14℃ during the day, sprinkle the ground with water, start the fan, keep the water evaporated and the air circulated, and lower the temperature. Open doors and windows at night to circulate air, and close them before dawn. If bees leave the nest, let them fly outside. Put a box of weak bees in the bee farm to contain the bees that fly out. After 2~3 days, move the bee colony out of the original site, let the bee fly and excrete, and move it into the room at night. After 4~5 days, the second bee is released, and after 10~15 days, the third bee is released. At this time, the spleen has been completely released, and the young bee has passed the excretion flight, and then enters the normal management of the bee colony overwintering.
