In the process of raising meat ducks, meat ducks are prone to metabolic diseases characterized by visual and motor disorders, namely vitamin A deficiency in meat ducks.

Meat duck

First, symptoms:

The eyes of diseased ducks have milky exudates, which stick to the upper and lower eyelids, and the conjunctiva is opaque. When the disease is serious, large chunks of white cheese-like objects accumulate in the eyes of diseased ducks, and the corneas even soften and perforate, resulting in blindness of diseased ducks. In general, meat ducks are stagnant in growth, depressed in spirit, weak in body, unstable in walking, loose in feathers, yellow in beak and leg skin, and weak in movement. if they are not treated in time, they will die.

2. Prevention:

1. At ordinary times, we should pay attention to the diversification of feed, green feed or poultry multi-vitamin is indispensable.

2. According to the season and feed source, carrot or carrot tassel is the best in winter and spring, followed by legume green leaves (such as alfalfa, clover, purple yunying, broad bean seedlings, etc.). In summer and autumn, wild aquatic plants such as Rabdosia humilis are the best, followed by green vegetables, pumpkins and so on.

3. Once the diseased ducks with vitamin A deficiency are found, the feed rich in vitamin A should be added to its diet as soon as possible. If the proportion of yellow corn is increased in the formula feed, the green feed can not be interrupted. It should be noted that vitamin An is a fat-soluble vitamin with poor thermal stability and is easy to be oxidized during feed processing, preparation and storage, so feed rancidity, fermentation and heat production should be prevented.

3. Treatment:

1. Exogenous vitamin A can be absorbed rapidly in vivo, so after artificial supplement of exogenous vitamin A, the symptoms of diseased ducks will disappear quickly.

2. Group treatment: vitamin A deficiency in meat ducks can be treated by intramuscular injection of cod liver oil. Ducklings weighing more than 250 grams can be injected 1 ml intramuscularly, or 20 ml cod liver oil can be added to every kilogram of concentrate feed.
