In recent years, with the increase of the number of sheep and the increase of breeding density, the incidence of sheep streptococcosis increased, resulting in great losses. The disease mainly occurs in winter and spring, from January to April of the following year, and often occurs in sheep at the age of 3 ~ 8 months. When the immunity of sheep decreases, the invasion of internal and external parasites and the change of climate and environment, it is more easy to induce.

Sheep

1. Popular features:

Sheep streptococcosis is an acute, febrile and septic infectious disease caused by hemolytic streptococcus, accompanied by organ bleeding, pneumonia, gallbladder swelling, submandibular lymph and throat swelling and other symptoms, some joints swelling, claudication or lying down can not afford, emaciation rapidly. Among the sheep, sheep are the most susceptible, followed by goats. In winter and spring, especially in cold weather, the number of deaths increases. The infection in the newly infected area is harmful, and the old epidemic area is sporadic. Streptococcosis is infected through respiratory tract and skin trauma, with an incidence of 1530% and a mortality rate of 6080%.

2. Clinical manifestations:

Chronic type: body temperature 41 ℃ ~ 41 ℃, depression at the beginning of the disease, loss of appetite, cessation of rumination, conjunctival hyperemia, secretion of purulent substances. Main features: swollen throat, dyspnea, loose feces, with mucus or blood, abortion of pregnant sheep, sometimes swelling of eyelids, cheeks and breasts of diseased sheep. Before dying, he grinded his teeth, convulsed and suffocated to death. Acute type: sheep with dyspnea, if not treated in time, die after 2-3 days. The most acute type: the time of death was faster, accompanied by neurological symptoms, and generally died about 1 day after onset.

3. Prevention and treatment:

Isolate diseased sheep and suspected diseased sheep. Early treatment included penicillin, amoxicillin, sulfonamides and so on.

Streptococcus is widely distributed in nature. it is a common bacteria in animals and generally does not cause disease. When the environment is bad, or other diseases are infected, the immunity of animals decreases and causes the disease. Streptococcus sheep can be mixed with many sheep diseases such as sheep pox, sheep enterotoxemia, sheep infectious pleuropneumonia, Pasteurella multocida, bursal disease and so on. In mixed infection, the diagnosis is more difficult and the mortality rate increases.

At ordinary times, it is necessary to strengthen feeding management, enhance sheep resistance, reduce external stress and reduce the incidence of the disease. Strengthen daily disinfection, do a good job in the environmental hygiene of the sheep house, keep the enclosure clean, dry and ventilated, often remove feces, and keep the floor clean. We should formulate scientific and reasonable immunization procedures and do a good job in vaccination against goat pox, foot-and-mouth disease, sheep triple vaccine and sheep infectious pleuropneumonia, so as to reduce mixed infection.
