In order to keep laying hens from stopping production in winter, it is necessary to meet the requirements of temperature, light and nutrition, and take targeted feeding and management measures.

Laying hens

1. Cold protection and heat preservation: the suitable living temperature of laying hens is 18 ℃, and the temperature of henhouse in winter should be kept above 10 ℃ as far as possible. It is necessary to set up wind barriers around the chicken coop and add plastic to the doors and windows to plug the leaking cracks in the walls and prevent the chicken coop from entering the "thief wind".

2. Increase light: light can not only enhance the physique of laying hens, but also promote the secretion of pituitary gland hormones and exuberant laying vitality of laying hens. Therefore, artificial light should be supplemented in winter with short sunshine time to stimulate laying hens to lay more eggs. Electric lights are usually installed in the henhouse so that the laying hens are detained for up to 15 hours. The method of turning on the lights early in the morning and turning off the lights in the evening can also be used to make the lighting time of laying hens in winter 0.5 minutes longer than that in summer and autumn.

3. Increase the feeding times: the temperature is low in winter, laying hens must absorb enough nutrients from feed to resist cold in order to ensure high yield performance. It can increase the feeding times to encourage laying hens to eat more.

4. increase nutrition: when the winter is cold, the laying hens consume more energy and need to be replenished from the feed. Therefore, the energy level of layer feed should be properly improved in winter. In addition, properly increasing the amount of vitamins in the feed can increase the egg production of laying hens. According to the experiment, by adding double amounts of vitamin An and D3 to the feed, the laying rate can be increased by 3% and 5%.

5. Increase epidemic disease away from treatment: winter is the epidemic season of respiratory diseases in chickens. Once the disease is found, drugs should be used immediately and early prevention should be taken. At the same time, laying hens can be disinfected with disinfectants such as Baidu every 5-7 days.
