Leek can grow continuously in the greenhouse, so vegetable farmers generally increase the harvest frequency to get more yield, but this practice will lead to weaker growth, lower quality, and even worse diseases. Reasonable harvest can improve the nutritional status of leek rhizome, promote the stable growth of leek, and ensure the good quality and stable yield of leek.

Cut leek

The harvest time should be suitable: the best harvest time interval of leek in greenhouse is 30mi 40 days. At this time, the plant height of leek is generally in 30-40cm, the number of leaves is up to 5mi 7, the content of various nutrients is also high, and the quality and yield are in the best state. If the harvest is too early, the overall height and nutrient accumulation of leek are insufficient, and the yield is low; if the harvest is too late, the plant is easy to lodge, the old leaves are easy to yellowing, and the risk of infection is increased. When Botrytis cinerea and other diseases occur, if the height of leek has exceeded 25cm, comprehensive consideration of various factors, early harvest can be carried out, which is conducive to disease prevention and control and maintain the overall yield.

It is advisable to use a sharp and clean sickle to harvest after dehumidification in the shed in the morning or in the evening. The leek is full of water in the early morning, upright and upright. After harvest, the leek is fresh, crisp and tender, rich in flavor, short in storage and transportation time, good in yield and quality, which is conducive to sales. It is not suitable to harvest in low temperature and sunny days, because in this kind of weather, the shed is often high humidity and low temperature, the production of leek is slow, the growth is weak, and the wound after harvest is easy to be infected with diseases.

The stubble height should be moderate: the stubble height refers to the distance between the harvest position and the upper end of the leek bulb (cucurbit head), and the height of 3-4cm is better. Judging from the color of the knife edge, the cross section should be light yellow, if the color is green, the stubble is too high, if white, the stubble is too low. If the stubble of leek is too high, it will affect the yield and quality of leek; if the stubble is too low, it is easy to damage the leaf sheath base, postpone the harvest time of the next stubble, affect the yield of the next stubble, reduce the total yield of the whole year, and lead to premature senescence and disease resistance of leek.

The harvest times should be appropriate: the harvest times should be determined according to the growth of leeks, water and fertilizer in the field, diseases and insect pests and market demand, 3 times in the whole winter and spring, no more than 4 times at most.

Post-harvest management should be appropriate: greenhouse leek should avoid watering and fertilization within a week before harvest, strengthen ventilation and dehumidification, strengthen heat preservation in the greenhouse after harvest, and should not be watered and fertilized before the new leaves grow to 4-5cm.
