Once the phenomenon of pecking hair occurs in the flock of ducks, it is necessary to catch the pecking ducks, raise them separately, and take corresponding measures according to various reasons.

Duck

1. Scientific feeding and management. To meet the needs of ducks of different ages, the relative humidity is 60 per cent, the ventilation is good, the light is not too strong, the ground is dry, people walk into the duck house, feel not bored, do not prick the nose, and should be fed regularly and quantitatively at the same time. Sodium selenite and vitamin E are added regularly to feed or water.

2. Scientific and rational preparation of feed. Feed raw materials should be diverse, the formula should be scientific and reasonable, and high-quality, full-price diets should be fed according to the duck's age. For ducks pecking feathers caused by deficiency of protein, calcium and phosphorus, 5% soybean cake or 3% fish meal, 2% bone meal or shell meal can be added to the diet; if caused by salt deficiency, 12% salt can be added to the diet for 3 days. Due to sulfur deficiency, zinc sulfate or calcium sulfate (gypsum) can be added to the diet, each duck 1m 4g per day, appropriate addition of green feed or increased feeding of feather pecking spirit, feather powder, etc., can prevent pecking.

3. Correct and timely beak amputation. Newborn ducklings cut off their beaks at the age of 8-10 days, and burn the tip of their beaks with beak breakers to avoid pecking feathers completely.

4. Exercise properly to reduce the intensity of light. Duck houses are generally illuminated by 25-watt light bulbs, and ducks can see eating and drinking water. Ducklings use red or orange light, while ducks use red or white light, which can make ducks herd and reduce pecking.

5. Drug prevention and treatment. Add feather powder or feather pecker, feed with 5% mixture for 7 days or plaster powder, 1 Mel 4 grams per duck. Once the pecking duck is found, it should be picked out and raised in isolation, and the wound should be washed with potassium permanganate solution or coated with purple lotion and erythromycin ointment.
