Goose gastric nematode disease is caused by a variety of gastric nematodes parasitic in goose glandular stomach, muscular stomach and small intestine. The eggs of stomach nematodes were excreted out of the body with the feces of diseased geese and were swallowed by intermediate hosts such as grasshoppers and beetles. After about 3 weeks, the eggs of stomach nematodes developed into infectious larvae. Geese could be infected with the disease after swallowing the insects.

Symptoms and pathological changes:

The symptoms of goslings are more obvious than that of adult geese, and a large number of deaths can be caused by severe infection. When the adult goose is slightly infected, the symptoms are not obvious, but when the infection is serious, the goose is dispirited, wings drooping, diarrhea, then emaciation, anemia, loss of appetite, unwilling to stand. After dissection of the diseased geese, it was found that there was hemorrhagic inflammation under the myogastric stratum corneum and the formation of caseous or purulent nodules. Glandular gastric mucosa inflammation, hypertrophy, ulcers, tumors, gastric submucosa has bright red or dark red round or oval lesions, thin nematode can be found.

Treatment:

The following drugs are available: levamisole powder, orally, 20 mg / kg body weight / day, or 0.05% mixed feed for 7 days; diclazuril premixture, 300 kg water / 100 g / day, concentrated administration; insect repellent powder, oral administration, 10 mg / kg body weight / day, or 0.6 g / kg feed for 7 days.

Prevention:

Ensure the nutritional needs of geese and improve the ability of geese to resist parasitic diseases. Attention should be paid to the cleanliness and hygiene of goose houses and the harmless treatment of goose droppings such as biological heat. The geese should be treated with preventive deworming from the beginning of grazing, the second deworming will be carried out one month later, and then once every 3 months. Deworming drugs such as levamisole and insect repellent powder can be mixed and fed according to half of the therapeutic dose. Try to prevent geese from coming into contact with the intermediate host of gastric nematode disease.
