Kumquat is an evergreen shrub (small tree), the fruit is golden yellow, fragrant, hanging fruit for a long time, strong ornamental, it is suitable for ornamental potted plant, and kumquat is sour and sweet and delicious, planting in warm areas in the south can be used as fruit tree management. Kumquat likes sunshine and warm, humid environment, is not cold-resistant, slightly shade-resistant, drought-resistant, requires good soil drainage, for fertile, loose micro-acid sandy soil.

Potted kumquat

Kumquat is a light-loving plant, but the strong sun is not conducive to the growth of kumquat. The annual average temperature for growth is more than 15 ℃, and the optimum temperature is 23 ℃ 29 min. More than 35 ℃, stop growing,-2 ℃ will suffer frost injury. Kumquat trees generally do not need to cool down in summer, enter the room before Frosts Descent and leave the room after Qingming Festival, which can survive the winter safely.

Kumquat trees can be propagated by grafting. The rootstock uses Chinese wolfberry, lime or sowing seedlings, and the grafting methods are grafting, bud grafting and leaning grafting, branch grafting, and cutting method in March-April of spring. The bud grafting was carried out from June to September, and the pot planting was carried out from April to July.

Kumquat trees need more water in the process of growth. Generally speaking, water should be properly watered in spring. In summer, the light is strong, the temperature is high, and more water is needed, but it should be timely and appropriate, otherwise it will cause fruit drop. Autumn shoot growth, fruit expansion, must be fully hydrated. In late autumn and winter, the flower buds differentiate and the basin soil is dry. Kumquat trees like fertilizer, in addition to pots, change pots to apply sufficient base fertilizer, the growth period should adhere to the application of thin fertilizer. The times and amount of fertilization should be determined according to the growth and phenological period of the golden orange tree. For example, it is better to apply liquid fertilizer to fully fermented cake fertilizer, and the ratio of cake to water is 1: 200. The soil in the north is slightly alkaline, and ferrous sulfate can be added to the fertilizer to form a micro-acid nutrient solution.

In addition to proper management of water and fertilizer, potted kumquat should also pay attention to pruning. In the spring sprouting period, part of the old branches should be cut off, and the strong ones will leave 2mur3 buds, and each plant will leave 3 pruned one-year-old branches, which is beneficial to the germination of spring shoots. When the new buds grow to 15-20cm, they will pick out the heart and make the branches full. When the branches are full, apply a quick-acting phosphate fertilizer, such as calcium superphosphate, to prevent branches and leaves from growing, promote flower bud differentiation, blossom and bear fruit as soon as possible. The spring shoots began to bloom at the end of May, and the flowers should be thinned properly. After setting the fruit, the weak fruit should be thinned once according to the tree potential, and there should be 3 weak fruits per branch. Cut off the autumn tips in time to prevent secondary results.
