Reasonable pruning and scientific leaf picking are helpful to adjust the plant type of eggplant, coordinate their own nutrition, control diseases, and also help eggplant to obtain high yield. So how to prune and pick leaves of eggplant in arch shed?

Eggplant pruning

Pruning: generally eggplant adopts the method of double main branches, that is, when eggplant bifurcates, two branches with the same growth are selected as the main branches. Many vegetable farmers are accustomed to coring when the two main branches are as high as 1.5-1.8 meters, mainly in lateral branches. Experts advocate that eggplant should be continuously stripped and changed to ensure that the results are not fault-free. It is generally carried out when the eggplant grows to 1.1 meters high, leaving the following robust lateral branches as the new fruiting main branches; the second time to remove the heart and change the head, when the height is about 1.5 meters. By continuously removing the core and changing the head, it can not only dwarf the eggplant, but also avoid the fault phenomenon.

Picking leaves: in the management of long eggplant in arch shed, picking leaves is very important. Because reasonable leaf picking can not only reduce plant nutrition consumption, promote eggplant coloring, but also avoid field depression and prevent diseases. However, in practice, many vegetable farmers do not look at the period and pick leaves blindly, which is very disadvantageous to the growth of eggplant.

Of course, the removal of diseased leaves and old leaves should be advocated, but there should also be a degree of picking leaves. If the top new leaf is not fully developed, the leaf manufacturing nutrition capacity is low, and the new leaf growth needs a lot of nutrition and other leaves supply, it is not suitable to pick leaves at this time. The middle and upper leaves are fully developed and the photosynthetic efficiency is high. The nutrients produced should be supplied to the growth of eggplant fruits, roots and new leaves, which is the main force of photosynthesis and can not be easily removed. Only the lower old leaves, due to the decrease of chlorophyll, enzyme activity, lack of light and limited nutrition, appropriate removal of eggplant is beneficial to eggplant.

Picking leaves can be carried out in stages, do not pick too many at a time, so that the lower part of the eggplant almost into a smooth culm. As a result, at the initial stage, we should pick fewer leaves, and if we pick leaves, we should pick them in turn from the bottom up. The main branch usually does not pick leaves before setting fruit, because the lower leaves also play a role in producing nutrients and supplying root growth. If the lower leaves have many eggs or yellowing weight, they should be removed in time.

In addition, those with less fertilizer and water and slow growth should pick fewer leaves; when the weather is dry, they should pick fewer leaves. In general, the lower part of the big fruit is suitable to retain 2-3 leaves. If the temperature is higher, the lateral branches germinate quickly, which is easy to cause field depression. Therefore, it is necessary to remove the miscellaneous branches as soon as possible, and the lateral branches can be removed early to prevent the lateral branches from becoming too prosperous and affect the growth of eggplant.
