Planting walnut seedlings in spring

1. Planting period: it is better to plant early than late in spring, otherwise the soil moisture is bad, which is disadvantageous to slow seedling. Therefore, planting walnut seedlings can be carried out from soil thawing to late March, and the earlier the better.

2. Seedling selection: the quality of walnut seedlings is related to the success or failure of the garden and the benefit, so it is necessary to select 2-3-year-old grafted walnut seedlings with good varieties, pure, well-developed main roots, complete lateral roots, no diseases and insect pests, strong branching ability, easy flower formation, strong stress resistance, plant height more than 1 meter, base diameter larger than 1cm, and more fibrous roots.

3. Seedling treatment before planting: first prune the seedling root, cut off the new section of the main root, cut off the rotten root, and bind it according to the size of the seedling; each bundle should be soaked in clean water immediately, and the water depth should be higher than that of the root system and lower than the grafting part, soaking for more than 12 hours to make the root system absorb enough water. After walnut seedlings absorb enough water, soak them in 2000 times ABT rooting powder solution for 5 minutes to improve the survival rate, and then put 0.5% carbendazim solution for quick disinfection. Finally, the mud is dipped in the root to prevent the root system from blowing dry.

4. Planting: before planting, soil preparation should be carried out first, 1 meter square hole should be dug, and the topsoil and core soil should be opened. When backfilling, the topsoil should be filled first, and then the core soil. When planting, how many seedlings should be taken, the general row spacing is 4 × 5 meters, 33 plants per mu, the pollination trees at 1:10, and the mixture of farm manure and topsoil is applied in each hole.

When planting, first release water, should be more, not less, and then fill the mixture of topsoil and farm manure, and then put in the seedlings. When releasing seedlings, pay attention to the grafting part facing north (because of the directional light of the tree, the grafting position is facing, the distribution of the crown can be adjusted, and the northwest wind blows more in the north to prevent the wind from breaking), and then fill the soil, fill it from the Western Zhou Dynasty to the middle, and keep it uniform. After filling the soil, it is appropriate to gently lift the walnut seedlings to the previous position, not too shallow or too deep. If it is too deep, it is easy to grow badly, slow down the seedling, and affect the survival rate; too shallow is easy to lose water, resulting in dead seedlings.

5. Post-planting management: after planting, the tree plate should be covered with plastic film in order to prevent moisture from running away. Plastic film specification 90cm2, first leveling the ground, laying plastic film, two people cooperate, the center of plastic film passes through the center of walnut seedlings, flattened and paved, and compacted all around and the roots of seedlings with fine soil, so as to prevent the plastic film from losing water caused by the wind. The young walnut trees after planting were dried and dried at the full buds of 60-80cm. After setting the dry, use a special bag to cover the tree trunk to prevent the harm of leaf-eating insects such as beetles. After the temperature rises, gradually prevent the wind and remove the bag. After young trees sprout, it is necessary to strengthen the management of soil, fertilizer, water, diseases and insect pests.
