The main results are as follows: (1) epidemic characteristics: quail Newcastle disease is a septic, acute and febrile infectious disease caused by Newcastle disease virus, which mostly occurs in the later stage of the epidemic of Newcastle disease. It can happen all the year round, but it happens frequently in spring and autumn. The saliva and feces of diseased quails contain a large number of viruses, which are transmitted through feed, drinking water and utensils. Sick quails can also transmit the virus through the air when coughing or sneezing. The incidence of young quails at the age of 40 ~ 70 days was more, and the incidence was lower at the age of more than 7 months. The mortality rate was 50% before laying and 10% after laying, but the course of disease was longer and the number of eggs was reduced.

(2) Clinical symptoms: the most acute type, rapid onset, no clinical symptoms, sudden death. Acute type, at the beginning of the disease, high body temperature, lethargy, loss of appetite (waste), but like to drink, walk slowly, stand apart from the group, close eyes and neck, drooping wing tail, crown and flesh beard are purple; dyspnea, often wheezing; diarrhea is serious, yellowish-white or yellow-green feces, and sometimes contains blood; egg production of egg-laying quails decreased, soft shell, white shell eggs increased. Long course of disease, the emergence of leg paralysis, ataxia and other symptoms. He usually dies in 2 to 3 days. Chronic type, more common in the later stage of the disease, obvious neurological symptoms, showing excitement, paralysis, spasm, movement imbalance, unstable gait, head and neck askew, sometimes convulsions, involuntary movement; drooping wings, weight loss, sometimes diarrhea, and finally death.

In recent years, quail Newcastle disease epidemic symptoms showed atypical symptoms, showing mental malaise, feed intake and egg production decreased significantly, and there was sporadic death. The color of feces is light green and sparse, with mild respiratory symptoms. Other neurological symptoms such as neurological symptoms can occur in chronic cases at night.

(3) Prevention and control measures: ① plus feeding and management, mixed breeding of other poultry in quail houses is strictly prohibited. A variety of vitamins are added to drinking water to improve quail resistance and reduce stress response. Keep quail houses and sports grounds clean and hygienic, adhere to regular disinfection, and eliminate sick and frail quails.

② quail herd prevention: a. 5-7-day-old quails can be vaccinated with Newcastle disease Ⅱ attenuated vaccine or 30 nasal drops of Newcastle disease clone. Then they were immunized with drinking water at the age of 28-35 days and 60-70 days, respectively. B. intramuscular injection of inactivated vaccine. Before and after 35 days of age, each quail was 0.3 ml. The combination of attenuated vaccine and inactivated vaccine can enhance immunity. C. stop the water supply one night before drinking water immunization, causing the quails to feel thirsty. Put in vaccinated water the next morning so that all quails can drink water and finish it within 2 hours. D. Three days before and after immunization, quails were provided with nutritionally balanced feed, paying attention to the balance of amino acids and vitamins, so as to maintain strong disease resistance in large groups.

Emergency prevention of ③ disease in quail herds:

A. Emergency vaccination, Newcastle disease Ⅱ attenuated vaccine or Newcastle disease clone 30 vaccine 4 times the amount of drinking water, combined with interleukin-1, the effect is better. b. Emergency inoculation of avian interferon + avian interleukin. c. Newcastle disease nucleic acid preparation can be used for drinking water vaccination. D strengthen nutrition, supplement various vitamins and strengthen disinfection. E. large groups of quails use antibiotics to prevent secondary infection and reduce mortality. Chinese herbal medicine can promote the recovery of egg production.
