The milk secreted by sows within 3 days after delivery is called colostrum, and later secreted is called normal milk. The composition of colostrum is different from that of normal milk. First, colostrum is rich in immunoglobulin, which can enhance the immunity of suckling pigs to the disease; colostrum has high acidity and contains more magnesium salt (with light diarrhea), which can promote meconium excretion. The glycogen and fat reserves of newborn piglets were exhausted within 24 hours. lactose and fat in colostrum provided energy for piglets and improved their resistance to cold. Therefore, piglets should eat enough colostrum as soon as possible after birth, no later than 2 hours after birth.
